Evidence of ridges in discovery teaser

Dr. Bashirs protege

Commander

So I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but there is a close-up of the Klingon (possibly) helmet from the new teaser. And....It definitely shows some sort of ridges.

I think Affliction (ENT) made clear that while many Klingons were affected by the Augment virus, not ALL Klingons were.. so I'm hoping we'll at least see both variaties... if I got this wrong about Affliction please let me know..!

Roald that is what I understood too from Affliction. And I also hope that we get both type of Klingon in the show.
As for the image: I don't know if that is a Klingon helmet although the ridges are there, it looks to me that it is over a starfleet uniform ... maybe I'm wrong. Let's hope that the next trailer clears that up

I think that's some kind of rig for Doug Jones' alien effects. Maybe Jones' alien has ridges (too).

It looks a bit more orange, like Wesley's season one sweater, or Star Wars Rebel pilot uniforms.

I believe we are looking at a behind the scenes img of a test or rehearsal of the helmet in operation.

I wonder if NON ridged Klingons of this era used big scary helmets to disguise their disfigurement.

The image was dark so I thought I'd up the brightess and contrast and see what we get. Looks more like a helmet to me. I would guess that the lights under the helmet are to give the effect of something Breen-like with lights in the helmet.

I keep wondering if that's Lt. Saru. This may be a very early look at his costume.

On second thought this could be something very interesting. Imagine thi,'s, they're are both ridged and ridgeless. The ridgeless feel the need through shame, and loss of face (no pun intended) to wear ridged intimidating helmets and never take them off in the presence of the ridged. Definitely plays into racial tensions the concept of the. Persecution of the "other". Is definitely very topical

Note the collar on this jumper though...does it remind you of something we've seen before in a few TOS episodes? (and obviously at first on the Cage pilot - though it IS a bit different in style). I'd like to believe it might be the actual PreTOS jumper in their creative team interpretation of it, till I know otherwise.

Also, would it be strange for Doug Jones to portray both Saru AND a Klingon character?

I really hope this finally puts to rest the ludicrous idea that some Augment virus caused the ridges to appear.

Besides, did nuTrek already confirm that Klingons have ridges in the TOS era?

Uh, it was the Augment virus that caused the ridges to disappear.

Other way around, the Virus caused the ridges to disappear.

Not every single Klingon was affected by the Virus, so there should be both ridgeless and ridged klingons.

Yea, the collar reminds me of something I've seen in a few TOS episodes. But the uniforms in the Cage also remind me of a few sweaters I got for Christmas from Gap. :p

I think the orange sweater is just an orange sweater and not part of the full costume. The black harness probably helps keep the costume in place.

I do hope the Klingons wear helmets a la the Kelvin Timeline, just for how much gnashing of teeth it'll cause in some circles.

Plus, they looked really cool.

That's why I was thinking it could be Saru. The orange shirt and harness don't look to be the actual costume, but something worn under it to be a barrier for the lines being run into the headpiece and for comfort.
