Star Trek Discovery delay

I'm not worried about the fall season. I'm worried about a delay of this magnitude. Yes, they're supposed to start filming next week, but is that still the case? If not (as I would expect), it tells me they're going back to the drawing board and that means bad, bad news. "That's pessimistic", you say? Consider the team they've assembled and how long those people have been together working on this. "Getting it right" as CBS claims it's doing should be easy given the results we've seen from them. More likely, those same people are being given a new direction in some way that is blowing up what's been done so far.......and that almost never ends well.

The same EW article that confirmed the delay also said that they will start filming next week. So the show is still scheduled to start filming on Tuesday.

This doesn't surprise me. Time is moving quickly and despite casting news and filming set to begin soon, there seemed to be something in the air that said that they wouldn't get this out by May.

We've seen a lot of Hollywood productions that would have been better served with delays.

At least CBS recognizes problems and is doing something about it.

The good thing about it being a prequel is that I won't be anxious waiting to see it. I grow weary of them going where they've technically already gone before.

2255 has never been shown, we had The Cage in 2254 and WNMHGB in 2263.

From 2161 - 2266 there is a massive gulf of just nothing. It's the biggest open gap of any Trek era, and Discovery was built during it. If you can't milk 2-3 seasons out of that, I don't know.

Assuming it is still set in deep space post-2017, I am sure almost every story will involve going where no one has gone before.

I think that CBS are just causing delays to create suspense.

As with all engineering...things sometimes happen to delay the launch. Better to launch late than to not launch at all.
