Did any of the movies have this line in them?

I'm sure this was in one of the trailers for either Into Darkness or Star Trek Beyond but there's a scene with Uhura telling the bad guys "My captain will come for us and mercy will be the last thing on his mind" and I can't recall if that scene is actually in one of those two movies, or had been cut and just left in the trailer.....

It's a great line. I'm sure it was in one of the trailers but can't remember which one, or maybe I had imagined this line and mixed it up with two others.

    Anyway.

It's from the June 27 TV spot for Star Trek Beyond.

I thought that she had said something similar, if not that. I only saw it once, around release time, so I'll have to rewatch it.

In the film, Uhura says "He will come for us." and Krall responds, "I'm counting on it, Lt. Uhura."

IMO, the other version was only ever a "Trailer Line"™. His response wouldn't quite work if her line was the trailer version, plus I'm pretty sure the 'mercy' lead-in is from a different point in the film.

The scene is there, but the dialogue was altered in the final version and no longer contained that exact line.

    Here's what looks like a closed-caption transcript.

I find it a bit weird when trailers contain dialog or character voice-overs that never appear in the final movie.

Yeah, that really bugs me. I just loved that line as it was.

The STID trailer was a far bigger offender in this - 'You think your world is safe...' 'You are a pawn, Kirk' etc. It's a shame these didn't make the cut.

Generations had a line between Kirk and Harriman about cheating death together.

Was it just me or were Idris, and even at one point Zoe amazingly, pronouncing Uhura's name wrong...?

I dunno. I'd never heard it said that way onscreen up until then. Normally it doesn't sound "you--her--rah". More "oooh--her--rah".

Probably inevitable, though, since the trailers are presumably put together by the advertising department while the movie is still in production. (Kind of, ahem, like a movie novelization that's based on early version of the script.)

Heck, the TV ads for HIGHLANDER: ENDGAME featured clips from entire scenes and special-effects sequences that never appeared in the final movie.

I remember being quite frustrated when scenes appeared in the opening "Previously on (Nu)Battlestar Galactica" that didn't actually appear in previous episodes. Some of them never even appeared in the Blu Ray deleted scenes. Happened quite often in later seasons, IIRC. I remember thinking "WTF" on multiple occasions.

The Battlestar thing is entirely on purpose. They use footage from previous eps with newly recorded dialogue so as to either reinforce a point quickly or to retcon something. I actually didn't mind it, which surprises me.

And intentionally so. Apparently a lot of those shots were created for the trailer alone. Some shots were from deleted scenes, others were just made to "look cool" even though they had nothing to do with the story.
The recent Lights Out also created moments that were never intended for the film. The director went into it a little in a YouTube video, about how dialogue and motivations were invented totally for the trailer.

I think some of the worst ones were in Doctor Who cliffhangers of the 70s and 80s. Oh no, the Doctor and his companion are in mortal peril.... run end credits. Next episode - oh they weren't quite in as mortal peril as we led you believe because of this small bit which we neglected to show you last week.

    Totally agree.

But on rare occasions they did follow it up...

I get the feeling you would hate movie serials from the '30s and '40s.

Haha very true. I have seen a few of the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers serials and yeah they're along the same lines.

Honestly, I only went "WTF" the first time it happened. After learning the explanation online, each subsequent time it happened, I just smiled and shook my head.

But yeah, that show did have a problem with including deleted material in the recaps. Part of the problem was that the material deleted from the episodes was done so because it was deemed to have no relevance to that episode's plot, despite the fact it was setting up for something in a future episode.

I think there was a Farscape episode where all the 'Previously on...' footage was fresh footage filmed specially for that segment. I'm sure I remember thinking I'd missed an episode.
