Spoilers The Flash - Season 3

Pretty sure there was a Fringe reference in the show. Coffee gone extinct due to a blight? Where have we heard those *exact* same words before? Just a few lines earlier he called Wally, Walter.... I got a big smile out of the whole thing.

You're probably right. This episode was written by Zack Stentz, who was a producer on Fringe (along with his erstwhile writing partner Ashley Edward Miller) throughout season 2, in which the alternate universe was introduced.

I might be reaching, but he may have even been wearing a hat reminiscent of the Observers at one point.

No, the Observers wore gray fedoras, and H.R. wears a black pork pie hat.

Is the show airing anywhere tonight? Or is it all pre-empted by the elections? My Cable box says the new episode airs tomorrow on Much however so I could watch it then if that is accurate.

Step 1: Learn that your friend (Caitlyn) is turning into a murderous super-villain (Killer Frost).

Step 2: Tell your friend that you're responsible for destroying her life (even though you really have no evidence one way or the other)...thereby inevitably creating a super-enemy.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit

Yeah, it bugged me that he made that conversation about him and his sense of guilt when she was the one whose feelings he should've been listening to. That was inconsiderate.

It's starting to look like Julian is Dr. Alchemy, isn't it? Although that may be a red herring. Anyway, I hadn't expected Savitar to show up so soon, or to be quite so monstrous/metallic. And why was the Flash just standing there dumbly while Savitar was flitting about attacking people? He has superfast reaction time! Well, maybe he was weakened from Alchemy's "rock that shoots lasers." (Cisco, man, you're letting us down with the nomenclature!) But why did it take Joe and the SWAT team so long to come onto the scene?

It was fun to see the Flash working side by side with the police, although he probably should've been blurring his features and voice, since some of them might recognize CSI Barry Allen. Speaking of recognizing, I've seen the actor who played the head of the SWAT team before, but I can't place him. Anyone know who that was?

I think it's a red herring. At most, he's an acolyte of Dr. Alchemy. It's more likely, though, that he really does have something else going on.

He mentioned a girlfriend...I'm picturing him as a Doctor Freeze variant with Nora in a sub-zero stasis chamber...

I've tuned in here and there because folks were praising this show and frankly it's a lackluster mess. Sure you get a thrill from seeing characters brought onscreen or name dropped but overall the angst is tiresome, I hate the scattered approach to the storyline where they throw everything including the kitchen sink rather than being more measured, the episodes are unfocused and the season long threads start out intriguing before they fizzle with anti climatic payoffs--hello zoom?!? And the abrupt wrap up to the singularity with the blink and you miss death of Ronnie Raymond. And news flash to writers--if you can't come up with anything reasonable to service a character jettison said character. The writers may think its cute with the running gag of keeping tom cavanaugh around each season with a different version every time but it is flat out dumb and too cute by half. All his scenes this season are cringeworthy

Shade was a little underwhelming, I do wish the show would have several smaller arc's sometimes, so villains don't just appear for one episode. Really dug the ending though and next week's preview looks amazing.

It costs more to have repeat actors for an arc.

Which means that it is a decision they have to make at the beginning of the year, which requires forethought.

I'm having a little difficulty accepting how easily Alchemy manages to hit a speedster with an energy blast... every... single... time...

I'm already getting annoyed with H.R.'s personality, particularly his schtick of repeating what others say and trying to make it sound like his own idea. I'm starting to hope he's temporary and they somehow get Harry (and Jesse!) back from Earth-2 for good. Maybe H.R.'s purpose is just to provide the face-disguise device that will allow Harry to move freely in public once he comes back.

I agree. HR is getting very annoying for me as well. And I too would like to see Harry and Jesse come back. They were great. They worked well with the team. Maybe we will get a scene where Harry meets HR and goes "I can see why you want me back". Plus, they could do some interesting stories with Jesse and Wally or Jesse and Barry, bonding over being speedsters. I am thinking that it would be good for Barry to have a friendly speedster around rather than always dealing with evil speedsters.

Harry and H.R. already met when the latter first arrived.

Given how close Jesse and Wally are, it'd be a pity not to continue that friendship (and possibly more). Plus, from an aesthetic standpoint, I'd much rather look at Jesse Quick than Kid Flash. Not just because she's hot -- her costume is well-designed, while the Kid Flash costume doesn't really work for me.

I forgot. But it would still be cute to have Harry comment on the team wanting him back because they could not stand HR or maybe have the team comment on how much they missed Harry.

Yes, I think it would be a real missed opportunity.
