Not sure where @Ensign is, but given bonfire night, yeah, fireworks are a thing here. Next Saturday will be the big day(Guy Fawkes and all that), but I've been hearing (and seeing) some go off for the past week or so.
With the mention of Guy Fawkes, I'm gonna guess that "here" is the UK?

No. We haven't done anything Halloween-related since we were still back in DC.

Watched Hocus Pocus and listening to the fireworks display going on outside, a little annoyed that my "rainbow" sparklers consisted of three colours at best, but I'm having fun anyway.

What were you up to in DC?

Rainbow sparklers sound so cool! Too bad only three colours but still cool

I've never really 'got' Halloween personally. I don't really get why it's such a big deal. I have gone to the odd Halloween party but mainly because I'm a sociable person and I like seeing my friends. Plus - any excuse for a couple of drinks.

However, I've never gone round trick or treating and I don't answer the door on Halloween. As it happens, I'm working tonight (and seeing some very interesting sights on CCTV), but I think future Halloweens might be different. My new girlfriend loves Halloween, as does her kids.

The most memorable Halloween was when Ghostwatch aired in 1992. It traumatised me for about a week but was one of the best TV mockumentaries I've ever seen. It was presented as a live broadcast from a haunted house gone wrong, and starred some well known TV presenters not known for acting (Michael Parkinson, Mike Smith, Sarah Greene, etc).

I'm more excited by Guy Fawkes Night and I'll be taking her and the boys to an organised display on Friday. Get the sparklers out.

Is fireworks during Halloween a thing in the USA? I think it only happens here because Halloween is so close to Bonfire Night.

I really dislike fireworks quite a lot so this time of year is not great for me :shifty:I'm not scared of them... I just dont like unnecessarily loud noise.

I have been trick or treating once when I was like 8 years old.
Its definitely becoming a bigger thing here, in the UK. Its still nothing like in the USA though.

I let my beard grow out this summer. I have on dark pants, a white button-down shirt, red suspenders, and a Santa hat to give out the candy this year. For real.

Adults dont dress up, in the UK, for Halloween. Some young adults do but only if they are going to a party.

Thats my experience anyway.

Had a death in the family this month (brother-in-law), so decorating was kind of subdued this year. I dressed up some of my dolls, and have candy on hand for any kids who show up (so far none), that's about it.

I did do some Halloween crafts:

Well, the neighbor kids just banged on my door... very impatiently (I live in an apartment building). Funny how having to put up with them running in the halls, getting in the way, and screaming and yelling doesn't make me want to give them any candy.

So I've decided that they don't get any candy, and I do get take-out tonight (which will not consist of candy).

If that makes me a grouch, so be it.
