Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

I was really happy with the season premiere. They managed to completely retool and improve the show without really altering or taking anything away. So refreshing to see a traditional portrayal of Superman as a happy inspirational figure. I love that we get a sudden inclusion of Superman lore with Lex and his family and Lois and Perry and Cat/Clark...

The only false note for me was Kara abruptly deciding she's not interested in Jimmy after pursuing him all last season.

That seems to be bending to the will of the legion of SG who despise the James character, and were vocal with their disapproval of his having any romantic relationship with Kara.

Yeah, but with Kreisberg saying that the romance didn't feel right for the characters anyway but was just something they did "because we had to" (I'd assume from network pressure or something while they were at CBS), I'm willing to accept the change.

Besides, maybe Kara found that having is not so satisfying a thing as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true.

The new DEO headquarters was the only thing that reminded me that production moved from L.A. to Toronto. They did a pretty good job making the transition as seamless as possible.

And, obviously, the rest of this episode was just pure super-awesomeness. It did feel like they didn't really plan to have Superman on this soon, which is why Mon-El is now unconscious waiting for another episode to deal with him.

Still my favorite superhero show on TV, and that's saying something.

Okay, so... I'm watching the season premiere. It's my first go with Supergirl and apparently Kara's B-story conflict is that her life is too awesome and she has too many options and she's maybe not into her soap opera star of a boyfriend. And I just watched her and Superman have a completely tension-free duel with a bunch of drones. Is this about as nail-biting as I can expect it to get?

I'm sorry, but I don't buy Kreisberg's cop-out excuse that James/Kara was something they had 'foisted' on them by CBS 'higher-ups'; it rings incredibly hollow and smacks of trying to make excuses and avoid taking responsibility for their own decisions.

I could accept them changing their minds about the romance in between seasons but trying to run away from that instead of owning it just rubs me wrong as a writer.

When Kara told the kids she used to change Kal's diapers they should have had one of the kids say "Cool, super poop!".

I don't see any reason not to believe it. After all, every show (except The Simpsons) gets network "notes," suggestions that basically have the weight of orders, and now that they've changed networks, they're getting different notes from above, which inevitably would have different agendas behind them. The fact that this change happened at the same time as that change makes Kreisberg's explanation quite plausible.

Besides, Kreisberg didn't explicitly say the decision came from CBS; he said "because we had to." I extrapolated the rest. Don't blame him for my words.

I debated putting in spoilers when I posted, I just figured since it's a pretty drastic change coming in a future episode I'd spoiler it for people who avoid this kind of news.

But this is the Spoiler thread. It's in the title.
I always thought it was spoilers for episodes that have already aired. If it's for spoilers for future episodes can we have a different Supergirl thread to differenciate the two because I don't want to read spoilers this season.

But this is the Spoiler thread. It's in the title.

This is primarily the Episode Discussion thread for episodes that aired.
The spoiler in the title is to warn people not to enter until they've seen the episodes, because they don't air everywhere at the same time, people time shift them and so forth...
Production spoilers are a whole other thing and many people wish to avoid them.

I think spoilers for upcoming episodes should be kept spoiler tagged within this thread out of courtesy to people who wanna discuss events of aired episode, but don't necessarily wanna know what will happen next or who's gonna show up when until the show actually airs.
It would be a shame to have to duplicate threads for episode discussions with and without future spoilers as it's really not that difficult to use a spoiler tag and a little consideration for fellow fans who don't wanna be spoiled :techman:

If some people really wanna discuss those rumors and spoilers more openly perhaps someone should create one thread for the entire Arrowverse so that we don't have to duplicate threads for each show?
