Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

Another reason it's a good fit for a superhero just occurred to me, it's a good excuse for why they're always leaving when a crisis happens. They can just say they need to go out to cover the crisis in person, and then just run off without anybody giving it a second thought.
If I was running a news organization I would be pissed if my reporters were hanging around the office all the time. They need to be out in the field working.

Reporters are a dying breed. Now days all websites (that don't have a connection to TV, radio or newspapers) do is aggregate the news that the other websites report first. Some have even been caught using fake reporters with photos they just randomly pulled off the internet to make their aggregated news look like someone actually reported it.

Here's
our first look at James as Guardian:

I think it fits the aesthetic of the show and the idea of the character being a vigilante much better than any of the costumes I've seen from animation or the comics.

Actually the comics' Guardian helmet looks far more RoboCop-like than the show's version does, because it bares the lower part of the face. Some versions, including the one from the Young Justice TV series, even had a chinstrap similar to RoboCop's.

If that's "plagiarized" then every armor wearer since the 12th century is guilty.

It's not just the armor and the helmet I was alluding to. It's the cloudy city, hero posing in the center of the frame, and the red and blue lights on both sides of the character. I find the similarities amusing.Possibly serendipitous, since the Robocop photo is pretty generic, but everything added together was enough to raise an eyebrow.

Not even including Guardian being a law enforcement character, like Robocop.

Hmm. I wonder if Guardian James Olsen will get his own Newsboy Legion. That would actually be a logical fit, given that he's a newsman himself. (Although "Newsboy" means boys who sell newspapers, like the kids yelling "Extry, extry, read all about it" on street corners in old movies. So I'm not sure how to make that work in a modern context.)

Hearing some speculation in other places that the Jimmy romance was side tracked so that Kara can explore her (bi)sexuality this season.

I found it quite humorous (and endearing) that all of the Superman mythos references were kept vague enough to be able to fit in with just about any past version of Superman you want to believe is canon. Lol.

They're all canon - every single one - but yeah, there's always a Luthor causing trouble.

Given the history of the Guardian, could we be getting a twist on the secret identity concept? What if Guardian is a clone with the real guy walking around unaware.

That would make our James Olsen a clone of the real James, which would be way too convoluted for the show.
