Fuller House teaser trailer

Yeah, exactly. The show was fine without him.

Finished the season today. It was very enjoyable. One of my favourites would have to be the baseball episode.

I don't think anyone is saying he needed to be in the show more. By far my least favorite parts of the entire thing were the cameos from the old cast members.

But from a writing standpoint, for such a supposedly close-knit family, it's weird to have a major family event and not have everyone there (and then not even have anyone comment on why).

After watching the whole season, I have to say that if Stephanie hadn't made it home I really wouldn't have missed her. DJ and Kimmy pretty much carry the show. IMO, YMMV, etc.

Yeah, my mileage varied. For my wife and I, Jodie Sweetin is the only one who can act. She's funny in a more believable way, where Andrea Barber is a straight up caricature, and through no fault of her own Candace Cameron-Bure's voice drives me up the wall. She sounds like a smoker and I just want her to cough and get whatever is in there out. We cried in episode 5 at Stephanie's revelation, and found ourselves laughing more at her than the other women on the show. FWIW.

But the caricature thing is what makes me laugh. Not just on this show, but sitcoms in general. :techman:

Yeah, it's not "Why isn't Bob Sagat here?" so much as it is "Why isn't Danny Tanner here?" Big family event and he's not even mentioned. Even a throwaway "He had to work today" line would have been enough.

I agree. Brother in-law who lived with him for quarter of a century, and his co-host who worked and lived together almost as long....and he didn't show up. That was weird.

IIRC, in the first episode it's said that Jessie and Rebecca haven't lived in their Tardis House for awhile, they moved in temporarily for the transition in moving back to L.A. When we see the attic space, when Kimmy moves in, it's clearly no longer being used as a living space and it's highly doubtful Nicky and Alex were sleeping in that closet with the tiny bunkbed.

Joey, as said in the episode, lives in Las Vegas, to sort of follow up on another "question" from earlier on why they're all still living in this same house after so long. I found it odd that the "studio light" was still above the basement staircase even though it'd seem the basement area has been reconverted back into a living space rather than the studio space Joey and Jessie used in the seires.

I've watched the first two episode and..... Yikes.

Maybe I need to see more of it but this thing is pretty damn painful.

Now, to be clear, I was a "fan" of the original. Watched it every Friday night as a kid, fell off of it into my teens when it was ending, but could still enjoy reruns. Hell, I can still enjoy the reruns today.

But this was painful.... Maybe the other episodes get better -and from some indications it does- but that first episode was a chore to get through. Too much winking at the audience and meta references. When they note Michelle's absence I'm not sure we needed their long, dismissive, stare at the camera/audience.

And I kind of find the new child characters very annoying. Particularly the youngest child. He just doesn't have the "cuteness" Michelle had at that age. He's trying way too hard to be "TV Cute."

The original actresses are all doing a good job and look great, though some of the stuff just seems odd. Like the inexplicable English accent Stephanie was doing int he first episode that was quickly reversed by Kimmy's feet. (sigh)

And Michelle spent a good chunk of her childhood helping to raise Michelle and to some level her nephews (Nicky and Alex) it's really that much of a struggle for her to watch over DJ's kid responsibly? She's probably changed a good deal of diapers in her past but "today" she can't do it without somehow losing her cellphone in the diaper?!

And, I dunno, even with the original show I hated how they all treated Kimmy. Yeah, she's got sort of a "strong" personality and, apparently, suffers from bromodosis but in the original show these adults, three men and a woman, trying to properly raise three young girls properly treat this young neighbor kid like crap. How can they with one face tell their girls how to treat others kindly and fairly and then as soon as Kimmy steps in the door they go, "Oh, fuck her! Get out of her you whore!"

But now this person is an adult and they still treat her like utter-shit. It's one thing to not like her, but she is your daughter's friend and a 30-40 year old woman, show some level of damn respect and common courtesy.

I dunno, the show hasn't yet "clicked" with me and, again, I was a fan of the original. Just something hasn't sparked here yet. The adult actors are doing fine, but the mugging and meta-references to the audiences are too much and the child characters (particularly the youngest) just aren't appealing enough.

I think Brad Jones:

Sums it up fairly well, I guess. Even though he wasn't/isn't a fan of the original show.

Episode three begins the improvement phase, but even so you might go the whole distance and still think it's awful. That's okay. According to the professional reviews I've seen you'd be in good company.

You have to take it for what it is... An 80s/90s sitcom. Though personally, I thought they did a good job of updating it just a bit.

Yeah, it does get better as it goes along. The first few episodes are a bit rough, but eventually the characters settle in, and there's a lot less meta going on.

I think I've watched through... four or five of them? Anyway, the last couple felt a bit closer to where I'd "expect" to be. A touch less meta, a touch less winking at the audience and the stories get better. I actually did get a chuckle when Stephanie gave us her "catch-phrase" ("How rude!") when they got home from partying "all night" and the kids had set-up a trap at the front door for Joey -who was baby sitting- and it sprung on the girls.

I know Candince is evangelical Jesus-crazy (but given how she seems okay with sexual/sexualized humor in this show I'm guessing not as much as her brother) and Jodie had a very, very rough go of it post the original series, they both grew up damn well. Jodie? Wow!

Ahem.

I'll likely finish this series but it's one I'm going to go slow with, there's just a lot to still "put up with" in the show given the late-80s/early-90s sit-com cheese of this thing. And it's easier to take it in small doses.

I still find the kid characters annoying. And I love kids, don't get me wrong, and I can still enjoy the kids in the original show with the catch phrases and such, but the kids here don't work for me. The oldest kid is okay as is Kimmy's daughter, their "not siblings, sibling rivalry" thing works fairly well, but the youngest kid is just annoying.

"Holy chalupas!" is the best catch-phrase they could come up with for him? Is he a young Deadpool?

(Chimichangas, I know, but you get my point.)

That's far earlier than I thought. I guess they'll crank out a million of these since its been watched by a bajillion people .
