Fuller is a notorious perfectionist. If he didn't have an ideal in the roles - or that ideal was unavailable - I can't imagine it'd be a quick process.

I've found trying to make something perfect can almost be as bad as rushing something out the door too quickly.
As a professional creative type - I can only say.... youre absolutely right.
No one ever tries to do anything perfect anymore;
I doubt petitions have anything to so with it.
I didn't mean the actual actors cast, I meant the casting list that's sent out to agencies etc. for the casting call. We usually see them online well before anyone is cast in the show. They aren't finalized character descriptions but are close - ish to what you see on tv.
And they have fake character names.
Any one already subscribing before the product is there, ain't all that bright.

I'm not sure if it'd be public. I've seen (and answered) cast lists, but there are a lot that stay hidden or secretive through various means. I figured Discovery - with all the secret keeping so far - wouldn't let that out.
So? As I said in that post, they aren't finalized character bios but give a look into where the show is going.

I'm sure they are trying to keep it secret, doesn't mean it won't leak anyway, as many do despite attempts at secrecy
They apparently swapped the start dates for DIS with the Good Wife spinoff. If the good wife fails to draw in the audience they are hoping, perhaps they will adjust their approach. Or at the very least see any less than impressive results for subscribers through that lens.

As far as I'm concerned this is a good thing. I was shocked to hear a show set to debut in January had only recently begun filming.
This is indeed shocking.
I'm not surprised. They haven't even cast the damn thing.
