Do you think LGBT characters will feature more prominently?

Star Trek fairly regularly has one character kill another, often in cold blood, and fully depicted on screen, sometimes with main characters presented as good upstanding people wielding the weapon. As a starting point, the Worf/Duras fight is my first exhibit. The murder of Jadzia is my second. I'm not sure I see why that is 'family friendly' but consenting adults engaged in sex is not?
Well violence is as American as apple pie or assault rifles. But two dudes having sex might turn little Johnny "funny". Because gay people only exist because they learned about it at some point. It certainly isn't some genetic or biological factor, otherwise we're victimizing people over something they can't control or change.

With notable exceptions, most violence on Star Trek is symbolic or just off screen. You see Worf swing his weapon at where Duras supposedly is on the floor just off screen, but the audience never sees him stabbed. A phaser disintergates someone, resulting in a red glow and no blood. Gangsters machine gun people on the street, but again no blood. You know "something" is happening to Jadzia in the temple, then she dies peacefully in sickbay.

Graphic is there, but only rarely there.

Despite the position of some here, most parents will shield their children from depictions of overt sexual activity. And (accurate or not) Star Trek is seen as a "family show."

Personally I think violence, whether implied or overt, should be more troubling to parents than sexual activity in media.
I know it's an American thing, I'm not sure about other countries. We're extremely sexually repressed here, I've always blamed it on the Pilgrims. If we had been settled by a lost Italian party boat things would be pretty different.

It's weird because sex is almost always enjoyable (when safe and consensual) whereas violence, though sometimes necessary, is never enjoyable. Yet we censor one more than the other in our media.

Should say for the record I enjoy action and violence in film as much as anyone and don't condone a culture of censorship. Just pointing out an interesting social phenomenon.

One of my favourite shows from the 80s.

Walt Disney + Howard Huges = The Wizard.

Send out a ship with a full crew of only little people.

Actually, as a resources concern that would be a very good idea, because they could put in twice as many decks on a ship of almost the same size.

So, after the evil aliens capture this crew, and they've figured out the perfect war machine to dominate a planet full of little people, the shape of the war to come that actually emerges, may surprise these evil aliens.
