2016 MLB Regular Season - It's an Even Year...

Who da thunk... The Yankees trade away "everything" and now they get above .500. The AL East is once again a "blob". Nice sweep of the Blue Jays. I'm sure the Red Sox don't mind :D

Nice to see Bryan Mitchell back. He broke his damn toe during spring training. Holding the BJ offense to a goose egg for 6 innings is no small feat. Severino seems to be relishing the pen role, but I'd like to see him get back into the starting rotation next year.

The Braves were the "team" rumored to be interested in him. I reckon there is a stupider or more desperate team than the Braves.

I don't see how this can be a bad move at all. He's obviously not Michael Jeffrey Jordon, but he will draw for sure. I wish him well.

The chance of Tebow actually seeing playing time inside Citi Field is probably less than .00001 percent, so unless Alderson forked out some ridiculous signing bonus or something for a guy who hasn't played baseball in eleven years, eh.

That being said, lolmets if they signed him based on his batting tryouts, considering his primary pitcher against him was David fuckin' Aardsma.

The Braves' front office isn't particularly smart or adept, but I'll laugh my ass off if they played some nth-dimensional chess to spook the Mets into signing Tim Tebow.

If nothing else, it could be a Bill Veeck move to boost minor league attendance. Though I'd rather have seen Eddie Gaedel.

Hope there's not a real baseball player somewhere in the Mets system who got shut out just 'cause Tebow (who will, by the way, miss multiple days of instructional league PER WEEK to do TV) thought it would be a lark to try.

...and would somebody like to tell me what exactly the hell just happened in the Yankees/Rays game? I didn't know it was possible to reverse a BALK.

Tyler Austin with a walk off home run!!

The kid has some serious power to the opposite field.

The Mets are truly the masters of their own destiny. With 21 games to go, the only team they play over 500 is the Nationals. They have 6 with the worst team in the National League, the Braves. 6 with the next worst in the NL East the Phillies. 3 with the worst team in MLB the Twiins and 3 with the Marlins who have totally given up. I was kinda kidding before about them winning the NL East but depending on what the Nationals do, they still have a chance.

It was a balk, I don't understand why they revered it. He moved his glove, even if it was for more signs with someone on base he needed to step off to do it.
I don't know that I would have called that a balk. You are allowed to move your hands before setting and starting your delivery. Just look at " The Bird" back in the day.

It happened maybe a month or two in a Cardinals game, too. Anyway, most judgment calls (such as balks, interference, obstruction) can be overturned. I think there was a Padres game maybe five or six years ago when a balk call was reversed twice.
