Roddenberry Vault - How Much????

Things are almost never as much as the initial price listing when the pre-order goes up that early. It'll be closer to a reasonable price when the time comes.

I hope it becomes available in the UK and/or a Region Free release will come...
99.99999% chance this release will be region free. Paramount don't tend to lock often, and none of the previous Trek releases have been.

I wish it were available for streaming online Like "For the Love of Spock" is. I pre-ordered that via Amazon Video

Ok, what was a must-buy is now a wait-and-see. That's a little more than I'm willing to spend on a 3-bluray set.

RAMA

Any fan who's going to buy this almost certainly has all the episodes in some form (DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS...). 12 episodes will account for most of the length of the discs. Doesn't leave much really new material.
Yup, turning it into a 3-disc set and adding 12 episodes that every hardcore fan already owns AT LEAST one copy of was a blatant money grab and fairly lame. I'd pay $20 for a single disc with all new content but I'm sure as heck not paying $77, or even $50, for 12 episodes I already own plus a few new special features.

Here is the thing. If they really wanted to make a mark with this they should have done their best to restore/remaster the materiel and include two versions of the episodes: the original aired version and one with the recovered materiel added. And also include the extras and new documentary features that we'll be getting.

Now you could justify the price.

If they had done "A Measure of a Man" treatment to the various episodes, this would easily be a day one purchase. Even at $77. The way it is being presented? I can't imagine paying more than $40 for it.

The interviews made it pretty clear that was impossible. Much of the lost footage doesn't seem to be fully produced deleted scenes, but rather half-completed snippets.
