Roddenberry Vault - How Much????

That's about twice what I was expecting, guess CBS is trying to recoup some of the TNG remaster cost.

I really do think it's eyewateringly expensive. Especially when you consider that the new TWOK blu ray can be had off the shelf for £8.99 in HMV. I appreciate that these things cost money, and I suspect a project like this could cost more than simpler restoration, but crikey that's a lot of money for episodes we already have on blu ray.

Pretty steep for a three disc set. Especially considering most of it will be dumped onto the internet a few days after release.

I'll wait for the price to come down, substantially.

That's a little steep, but the price will drop before street date.

And, considering the money they must have invested in the project, and the niche audience that will buy this, it's hard to blame them.

The Star Trek "Origins" release from 2013 had 5 episodes, 1 disc, no new features and only 1 version of each ep AND did not port over ANY of the old extras.

This has 3 discs, 12 episodes, lots of new episode specific features and 6 documentaries spread over all three discs. Also new language choices for both audio and subtitle.
This price is par for the course. BUT I am afraid the price won't come down much as this probably won't be a release that Best Buy or Target will carry "in-store" and Amazon doesn't price "match" on unadvertised items. May have to buy it elsewhere to get better price.

Any fan who's going to buy this almost certainly has all the episodes in some form (DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS...). 12 episodes will account for most of the length of the discs. Doesn't leave much really new material.

It is a lot cheaper than that Pink Floyd Early Years box set. That was initially set at about $700.00. We know that nobody is going to go for that. It has gone down in price. Star Trek will also go down in price. Hopefully a lot more.

Also, you can fit that material on much less than three blu rays, unless the docs are really long. No timings have been issued for those yet but I suspect that once again they'll be glorified 'puff' pieces.

So it's 76.99 on Amazon.com. I assume that's list price, because it doesn't seem to have any savings applied.

Amazon.ca has it with an C$84.99 list price (always higher than the US version), but with 30% savings already applied, so a sale price of C$59.49. Presumably the US version will eventually get a 30% discount (at least) applied too, which would make the price you actually pay only $53.89.

If you're *really* worried that's not going to happen, then just pre-order the Canadian version. With the differences in the dollar right now, it would only cost you around $46, plus whatever shipping & customs charges you might incur. (At the risk of seeing some French on the packaging! ;) )

Actually, I'm in the UK and this doesn't appear to even be available to buy here. Should have made it region 0 but the cost to import would be huge given exchange rate, shipping and import duty.

I wouldn't be able to play it anyway, so it's a moot point!

Heck, $76.99 is more than I paid for any individual season of TOS or TNG on Blu-ray.
