If you had someone who was familiar with the Trek world but hasn't seen Voyager what episode would you show them? Besides Caretaker (which is not the best episode but it's the pilot after all)
Not "The Gift"!If someone's new to a show, I think the best thing to do is watch all the episodes in the proper order.
Since VOY is basically an episodic show, all that person would need to see would be CARETAKER, SCORPION, THE GIFT and ENDGAME. These would basically tell them the "story" of Voyager.
However, this would be a very poor journey and they'd miss most of the fun.
I actually like THE GIFT, it was a nice send-off for Kes.Not "The Gift"!
That episode is horrible.
So for Sophie74656's question: I do think that Voyager should be watched in order. Start with "Caretaker" which in my opinion is the best pilot episode I've ever seen and one of the top 5 best episodes of Voyager and continue through the seasons. Just watching one episode here and one episode there doesn't give the right impression of the show and there's also a risk that some important events will be missed, somethghing which can cause confusion later on while watching it.
I agree with that I think The Gift was good a really nice way to send her offI actually like THE GIFT, it was a nice send-off for Kes.
However, the question did not refer to our favourite episodes but to the episodes that constituted a good way of introducing someone to the show. And if the person in question does not see THE GIFT, they won't understand what's going on. Therefore, watching THE GIFT is a must for everyone who doesn't know the show.
I don't entirely disagree with this. It's not a fantastic episode but i think it woukd be important to understanding the show.I would be scared away by "Caretaker" if I hadn't been a huge fan before watching it. Sorry, but I really can't stand the episode. It's damn hard to make a good start to a show after all, so that's alright in my opinion.
"The Gift" is a horrible episode. No 2 on my "Voyager least like episodes"I actually like THE GIFT, it was a nice send-off for Kes.

In your opinion."The Gift" is a horrible episode. No 2 on my "Voyager least like episodes"
Thin, unconvincing with an unrealistic scenario and full with holes.
I guess that the bad excuse for a writer who wrote it did it during a coffe break or sitting on the toilet.
I do see your point about how necessary it could be to watch it to get a gripabout Kes's leaving. But it could also be seen as an example of how bad Voyager actually could be on rare occasions.
That episode shold never have been filmed and produced.
And there should never have been a send-off.
On the other hand, I would highly reccomend episodes like "Jetrel", "Persistence Of Vision", "Cold Fire", "Resistance", the whole Jonas arc, Basics, "Futures End and "The Swarm" to watch really good Voyager episodes.
I understand your frustration but you can't just expect a newcomer to the show to stop before Kes leaves."The Gift" is a horrible episode. No 2 on my "Voyager least like episodes"

Most things happening on Voyager came after Seven arrived and Voyager is basically "the big borg show" so Seven and the borg are essentially a must for everyone who have never seen it before.
That said, I'd like to stress again that if someone hasn't seen something before, they should take it as it is and form their own opinion about it. This means watching ALL the episodes, even that horrible FURY. This will help them decide which episodes they would like to see on a rewatch.
Mind you guys, I'm watching the show for the 35th time and I've never skipped an episode. Love the whole thing.
And of course, I've seen SCORPION like 200 times already ...![]()
Yeah ... Janeway totally rocks in my book ...That's commitment.![]()
And so does SCORPION. What a story, my God! Can't get enough of it!Scorpion could hook in almost anyone!
Understandable from where you are standing.I'm sorry, I'm not that fond of "Scorpion".
It's like a forerunner of bad times to come.![]()
