No Man's Sky

I think it might make more sense to scavenge, upgrade your ship and then take other paths. If I can download the game on the weekend, I should decide before then from the more experienced gamers advice.

Bought it from the PlayStation Store this morning. I think the game is pretty slick after putting in about an hour-and-a-half.

I could see spending hours/days exploring a given world. Easily.
I restarted this morning and i'm at the 3rd solar system. The game is telling me to warp again but i'm flying around a planet getting exo-suit expansions from drop pods and saving units so i can get a bit bigger ship...
It's very zen like...

Yeah, it's almost a meditation like quality to it, I find it very relaxing.

I've been doing that. Well, multiple worlds in my second system. I've been bouncing back and forth between worlds here for the last week or so.

Yeah, it does have that quality. I can see why it's not for everyone, but I like just walking around and exploring the worlds. I've only been to two systems (I'm in my second one right now) and I'm always finding something cool. I'm going to try to get back to my first system, since I bumblefucked around it, then warped out without really exploring the other two worlds there. I can't really seem to get ahead though. I guess I'm not mining without spending on something. Seems like I spend about as much as earn.

There is a one glitch though. All the worlds I've been to are showing that I've discovered 100% of the lifeforms, even on the two worlds I barely explored in my first system. Several people have reported this, and it's kinda pissing me off since I can't get the 200,000 bonus. I got it for my first world, but the glitch kicked in after that somewhere. I'm not the only one to get it, and I'm not sure if there's a workaround. I think that's why my money seems to be holding even.

Other than that.....I have to say I'm loving the game.

Quick question for all the players: How many chose the Atlas thingy at the beginning and how many didn't? I chose not to as I wanted the more free form experience. I'm guessing that thing puts more emphasis on getting to the center of the universe?

Also, I love how all the trophy's are named after famous Sci-Fi books. Like "A Scanner Darkly", "The Space Merchants", "Foundation", "Stranger In A Strange Land", etc.

it's a more guided experience (which you can still ignore) for players who want that kind of thing - but even if you did spurn it at the beginning, you get plenty of opportunities to return to it later

Seems like the slow and steady path is best? I will ask more concrete questions after I start playing.

All I can think about playing this game: "come back, zinc."

This really is a great game. It's the kind of thing where you have to have some imagination and come up with your own goals and there's so much freedom. I scanned and found a player discovered system and have been journeying towards that waypoint for the past two days each time getting a little closer.

I just arrived at my 3rd system. I've finally gotten the call to search for the Atlas. I'm going to ignore that for a while, though, as I just got here. I would have stayed in my second system, but it was rife with pirates. After getting attacked twice and almost attacked a third time, I thought it time to bug out of that lawless system. I'd have thought a machine race like the Korvax would have better policing.

I'm also on my third ship. I found my second one crashed on a planet. It had one more slot than my initial ship, so I repaired the sucker and took off. Then I found a nice lil yellow number with 3 more slots than my second ship on a space station. The price was within my budget. It was about $20K less than my entire savings, so I bought it.

Now I'm hunting venom sacs for $26K a piece and trying to avoid the sentinels. This planet I'm on now is quite dangerous but going to be lucrative.

The planet I'm on is a greenish-yellow toxic mess. But, damn, this game is addictive.

Hm, creatures on undiscoverd planets or in undiscovered systems are already scanned and registered by other players...
So they get spawned on other planets as well it seems...

How long does the initialization phase take? Already been 10 minutes and only on initialize with circle e blinking.
Figured out how to start. How to save a game and exit gracefully on a PC offline?
