If you like, I can use the May-backup to build a copy of Terran as it was back then. That's better than nothing. No offense meant to the owner, but remember how long it took to repair that one tiny error in the database that caused the 8 lines error message. If I recall correctly it was something around 2 years. I'm not really prepared to wait that long for Terran to return.

The backup is just a series of SQL statements. You may need to install a blank board and use phpBB3's import subroutines rather than the database side import tool.

yep, that's what I'm currently doing Set up a new board and then overwrite the db-tables with the imported backup.

ETA: boardsoftware is installed but database is giving me trouble. The backup file is so big that it causes a timeout which I can't override. I'll split the file manually tomorrow (need some sleep and a dose of my migraine-drops first in order to not slip with my cyber-scalpel ) and try installing it in handy portions, if necessary one table at a time. Tables a* to pm* are already installed and look quite promising.
On the whole I'd say the patient has a rather good chance.

ok, short update for all Terrans:

The database works and the new board is online at http://sdg3.com/terran .
However, it is currently read only. You can log on and off but the quick reply window and many of the buttons are still missing so that you can't post.
I only just now discovered that the old board software was 7 versions older than the software I tried (which isn't the newest either...). That very likely accounts for the missing buttons etc.
I shall downgrade the new board asap and hopefully everything will then be at least functionable.

As avatars and images were saved on the server to which we have no access, all images got lost and must be loaded up again. External links still work.

The template got lost as well and must be reconstructed. If anyone saved buttons, smilies and the banner, please send them to me. It'll make the reconstruction easier. I saved only the starry background.

I can't say for certain but I hope that by the end of the week we should be able to post again. Sorry about the delay but this board is one of the most eccentric and stubborn ones I've ever met. Fortunately, I love challenges =)

Terran was highly customized, lots of non standard and unique stuff including the template, that one was modified from something we used when the board was on PHP2.xxx a decade ago.

Yep, the board is somewhat capricious but I don't give up that easily. It's a good chance for me to learn how to tweak files with this software (I was rather good with the 2.x but 3.x has a very different structure). The board may be stubborn but it never had to face a Bavarian

My only knowledge of Nibbles came after her death when someone at one of the TNZ offshoot boards made some stupid comment for the sake of trolling, but she sounded like a lovely lady who passed far too young. I hope her board managed to survive a while after her passing.
