Discovery Klingons: Flat or Bumpy?

Klingons from 5 years before TOS should have foreheads that are...

  • Flat foreheads

  • Bumpy foreheads

  • Mix of both flat and bumpy foreheads

  • I don't care

Now that we know Discovery is based 5 years before the adventures of Kirk and crew in The Original Series and that one of the main cast might be a Klingon Admiral, the big question I have is what would you like to see on screen? Flat or bumpy?

Klingons with bumpy helmets, which they never, ever, take off. The best of both worlds. ...

For those who read the novels, it turned out that not all Klingons were afflicted with the virus from Enterprise. So, we had both smooth and bumpy Klingons. The smooth-headed ones were considered outcasts and paria. COuld work here as well.

I voted don't care. Because it doesn't matter. If they're flat, it's because of TOS. If they're bumpy, it's because they're Klingons who weren't affected. If they're both, it's all good.

...But c'mon, they'll be bumpy. Chances of smooth Klingons only - 1%

If they go bumpy, they need to update the look a la Into Darkness. Pie-heads with perms do not make for convincing or scary aliens in 2016. They look goofy.

Some of it depends on the actors, and the writing.

Kruge and his crew are still particularly nasty villains. David's death in particular is still one of the most barbaric and brutal one-to-one death's we've seen in Star Trek.

Jesus... That noise he makes.

I do agree to a point though. I think the ridges work just fine, but I would want the Klingons to go more Feudal and have the feel of Kor and Kang from TOS. They have the barbaric edge, but they give the impression of Intelligent, thinking men, with more depth to them. Contrary to what most people remember of the TOS Klings, the higher profile ones were actually very charismatic and intelligent, which is how they made the transition from TOS badguys to DS9 goodguys without it coming off weird.

TOS Klingons look pretty cool anyway, I always thought. When ENT updated them, it worked out fine.

I would like Klingons that smooth one minute, then bumpy the next.

I'm not actually bothered which way they go, though if they go bumpy, perhaps update the look a little?

If Discovery pretends that 99% of the Starfleet crew are not human since TOS/TAS had other alien staff apart from Spock, Arex and M'Ress but they were off-screen, then they can do what they like.

Bumpy. If they want to throw a bone to the obsessives, they can toss in the occasional smooth head in the background.

I'll err on the side of flat. But I'm fine with flat and bumpy, AS LONG AS THEY IGNORE ENTERPRISE'S CRAPPY "augment virus"(read in sissy voice) EXPLANATION.

I want proper Klingons, so head crests are a must. I agree that the more we ignore the silly "Augment virus" from ENT, the better off we are.
