STC Ep. 7: "Embrace The Winds" speculation and discussion....

McCoy: "If they expect me to wear one of those flesh-colored unitards, I'm outta here."
Spock: "Indeed."
Kirk: "The grey two-piecers aren't so bad."
McCoy: "Kiss-up."
Spock: "Indeed."

There are numerous examples in the military of the "brass" forcing a new uniform change on the rest and as soon as they are "gone" the uniform changes back or into something better.

Since TNG never mentioned Dr. Pulaski again after the premiere of season 3, I think it's entirely reasonable to believe McKennah doesn't have to die to satisfy canon. Starfleet could have decided to table the ship's counselor program after the end of Kirk's five-year mission, or there simply wasn't enough time for Kirk to be concerned with getting her to the Enterprise during the V'ger crisis.

Maybe except for TNG season 3 "Who Watches the Watchers":
Picard: But now that he's here, you must remove all memory of his encounter with the away team.
Crusher: By erasing short-term recall?
Picard: It has been accomplished before. (TNG season 2 "Pen Pals")
Crusher: I am familiar with Dr. Palaski's technique. But I can't guarantee that it will be effective on Mintakans. Their lie-zone levels are much lower.

Back on topic.
I agree with Firebird, McKennah doesn't have to die. She could also be transferred or something like that.
And we'll see what will happen with Continues and how many episode they can and are still able to make after episode 7.

At FedCon last May (before the fan guidelines) Vic Mignogna described what the last episode and specificely that last scene of Continues would look like, but we (the audience) had to promise to never tell, sorry.
For now I'm just looking forward to episode 7.

Apologies.

Hey, I love STC. Quibbles aside it's the most I've enjoyed Trek in decades.

Wow, that's sad, man.

There's so much great Trek out there that you're denying yourself because of a perceived sea change in vision.

Your friend,

Brian

It's not sad. It's reality. If you've sampled things and it's not to your liking you're not obligated to have to like it.

Now that sounds like a canned response at a press conference that you've practiced for years.

Maybe if some of us who have an idea of what you like about TOS recommend some episodes from other Trek shows that you could screen to give us your views on?

Best,

Brian

Sorry, but I have to side with Warped on this one. I grew up in the 80s obsessed with TOS, and watched all of TNG in its first run.... I have never once gone back to TNG, and still have most of Voyager, and the last couple seasons of DS9 unwatched. Fan films sparked my interest a bit when I discovered NV and then Of Gods and Men, but it is STC that has led me back to Trek, and to this board. This is the most interested I have been in the Trek Universe since high school, and the first new Trek I have seen since Nemesis. I am actually looking forward to giving Enterprise a chance some day soon.

Also, to give Warped a bit of additional defense... He did watch and review every episode of TNG on these very boards. So it's not like the man never gave it a chance, or two, or that he was unfair to the series.

I'm quite certain that - despite all the complaining - Ray can provide no solid links to any time that any of the top brass at ST:C gave any "stated goal" of _re-creating the series exactly as it would have been in 1969-70_. Never happened, period. (If anyone can provide a single verifiable link, I'll eat my words.)

And as for calling the ST:C producers "lazy" - since I believe at least a couple of them are members of this board, I'm rather certain that's a violation of the TrekBBS terms of service.

^^ What you call "complaining" is legitimate calling out when a production doesn't adhere to stated intent of its producer.

I didn't imagine what I heard Vic Mignogna say particularly given he said it more than once.

You should also post it on the ST:C Facebook page wall for all to see.

I can't do it today because I have to take my father to Kingstion for tests. But when I get back later or even tomorrow I will hunt down the podcast/iinterviews from 2013.
