STC Ep. 7: "Embrace The Winds" speculation and discussion....

Set photo on STC's FB page seems to indicate we'll be seeing Kirk in his dress uniform. We could also be seeing some scenes of Uhura and McCoy together.

Finally Erin Gray is returning as Commodore Gray and supposedly plays a significant role.

Another Ep. 7 set pic shows a female Starbase crewman on a witness stand.

STC's latest announcement continues to assert they are going forward. They are working on completing their planet set as promised. They also included an image of the last page of their planned final episode script which describes the TOS Enterprise residing in drydock...and then fade out.

They obviously intend to see their project through.

It's very encouraging to see things are still progressing behind-the-scenes with STC. I wonder if they're prepping all of their remaining scripts now to have them ready to shoot sooner, and thereby complete the series within a couple years?

Hey, if everything "in production" is given a grace-pass, and STC had all their scripts in preproduction, and their last Kickstarter was to Finish The Series.... they might be good to go.... ;)

Our Love Letter to Star Trek
By Vic Mignogna

In a matter of hours, thousands of STAR TREK fans will converge on Las Vegas for the 50th Anniversary convention. Our favorite show premiered on NBC on a Thursday night in 1966, and September 8th will again fall on a Thursday in this anniversary year. If you’re coming to the Las Vegas event, please do say hello if you see our cast members like Chris Doohan, Kipleigh Brown, Michael Forest, Michele Specht, and me. Several of our dedicated crew people will be coming to Vegas, too – including talented makeup artists Lisa Hansell and Tim Vittetoe, who will be demonstrating alien prosthetic makeup application and answering audience questions at the Roddenberry Interactive Stage on Friday afternoon at the Rio.

Fans have been celebrating this anniversary year with special events and conventions, new merchandise to enjoy, a new movie, and with a healthy dose of reflection about what STAR TREK means in their lives.

We’ve been very humbled by the amazing reaction to Episode Six, “Come Not Between the Dragons.” The amazing talent of Gigi Edgley really brought a powerful touch to this episode, and it was wonderful to have a native Australian aboard the Enterprise. I hope all of you enjoyed Episode Six, and we’ve got some insight into that beautiful story in this issue.

At STAR TREK CONTINUES, we are excited about the premiere of our seventh episode – “Embracing the Winds” – that will have a convention screening on Friday, September 2 at the Salt Lake City Comic Con. A day later, our new episode screens at Toronto’s Fan Expo. It’s our personal tribute to a half-century of STAR TREK.

I want to assuage any concerns that our fans may have about the current climate. We fully intend that the kind donations from our supporters will be used for the exact purpose for which they were donated.

STAR TREK CONTINUES is the only official 501(c)3 non-profit Trek fan production company out there dedicated solely to TREK. We are awaiting further clarification, but I am optimistic about completing our planned series and I would like to ask all of our fans to remain optimistic with us. We have a plan to bring STAR TREK CONTINUES to a close with an outstanding final episode arc.

We are working at warp speed to complete STAR TREK CONTINUES. Below is a photo of the bottom of the last page of the script for the final episode in our series.

We have been humbled and honored beyond words by the kindness, enthusiasm and support of our series, and we will continue to demonstrate the integrity and quality that have defined STAR TREK CONTINUES from the beginning.

STAR TREK CONTINUES is our love letter to the series, a true effort of joy that we do just because we love the vision of Gene Roddenberry and the world he and others created.

With this they sre definitely stepping out from what TOS would most likely have done back in the day. TOS couldn't possibly have known of what lay a decade ahead.

Yes but as the continuation/conclusion of the five year mission they need to link with the film.

Thanks.

Although, if I were to imagine an ending or final scene for TOS, this wouldn't be it. For one, this is too obvious and it's more of that connect-the-dot thing that fan productions are obsessed with.
Maybe so. But given their track record, I'm confident that it will be more organic than just a typical exercise in dot-connecting.

No, they don't. Not everything has to be tied neatly together with every i dotted and every t crossed.

You really want this EXACTLY as if it were 1969/70 I understand that but there has been so much more good Trek (in many people's eyes) since then

I respect your opinion even though we are polar opposites, I liked the other show made in NY state BECAUSE of the references to TNG/the movies.

I'm simply adhering to their stated intent. You can't even pretend to maintain that illusion if you keep referring to things that would have been beyond the knowledge of those making TOS back in the day.

TOS would never have made any references to other series and films because those things did not yet exist. And that includes TMP. What GR and the rest thought for the characters a decade later isn't likely to have resembled what they thought a decade earlier when the show was in production.

I love that striving for a sense of authenticity as if we had somehow managed to get a few more episodes from TOS, but every callout to a post TOS production chipped away at whatever sense of authenticity achieved.

Your suspension of disbelief is already challenged by having a different cast along with contemporary language and sensibilities creeping into the writing, but it's further undermined by allowing pointed references to things that simply wouldn't have been on the TOS team's radar.

You can't make a claim to be just like it's 1969 again and yet keep doing things to undermine your stated intent.

Nonetheless STC's record pretty much insures it will be done well.

One of the things I love about TOS is that it stands apart from the rest. It isn't cookie cutter. It's its own thing and untouched by the sensibilities of contemporary Trek of the '80s, '90s and 2000's.
