HUGE Mr Sulu Spoiler

So in NuTrek 4 will we meet Spock's boyfriend? Or will we have to wait for the next incarnation of the Original Series for that revelation?

No, of course not. In the next movie, everyone will be zapped by Trelane and made into carbon copies of the original characters (visually, behaviourally and all) from TOS. Not a shred of difference between them will persist. This will apply to all other visual indices as well (thankfully, the new 8K Arra Alexis cameras surely to be used in the making of the next installment will allow all of us to clearly see the fine details of the papier mache "rocks" and "caves", the fishing line holding the plastic models of the ships and the fine weave of the perforated black cloth with backlighting used to create a star field). Won't it be wonderful?:D

The only reason Sulu is gay is because the original actor was, a decision that even George Takei was against after he first heard of it. So with Zachary Quinto being gay as well, I assume that Spock will be getting the same service at some point--which would make Uhura his beard

Whilst I appreciate the effort, it lacked any real substance to it, just some guy Sulu hugs on the station. I'm not saying that they should've been mincing off into the distance, or doing anything ridiculous like that, but actually having Sulu acknowledge/mention/worry about his husband in dialogue with his shipmates when facing a likely death, would've made the revelation better. I can't even remember the other Mr Sulu being given a name.

He wasn't given a name because it wasn't important to the story. But, we see Sulu is rather terrified when he hears that Krall is targeting Yorktown.

I don't think Sulu was gay only because Takei is. They wanted to make one of the main characters gay and Sulu had the least developed romantic history. That Takei is also gay just worked out. If Takei was straight I think they'd still have made one of the characters gay, and Sulu made the most sense as he never had a love interest, and the few times he showed interest in women involved Deltan phermones or other special circumstances.

If you hear hoofbeats, think horses not zebras.

In 1993 Star Trek was stringently opposed to LGBT representation, which is when he had to figure out what Sulu having a daughter meant, so of course we thought Horses. It's not that TPTB coarsley waited 23 to tell us that Demora had two daddies, it's that 23 years later there are apologists rising up saying that Prime Sulu is still Straight, and that there was a female married to Sulu all along, who is still probably married to the man in the Prime Universe.

In 2016, you say "Zebras" and I think, "Zebras are cool" but I feel foolish for not noticing Sulu's wife was a dude for the last two decades. I almost feel emotionally distraught enough to compose a lawsuit against CBS and paramount for tricking me so well for half my life.

It's mean, and we shouldn't let them off the hook so easily.

:(

I am sure that I am owed at least $40,000 and an apology.

Old Kirk did, Nu Kirk doesn't seem to have children as yet. And we don't know if Joanna exists in this universe either.

Plus Demora is roughly 5 years old in Beyond, meaning she was born about the time Sulu took the helm. She'd be in her 30's by 2293 when Old Demora was only 19.

Storing fertilized eggs is common in the here and now.

The two Demoras could be genetically identical, even if they have different birthdates, which they do.

Possibly, but I mean Sulu and his husband had children earlier in this timeline.

But then, we never hear this girls name. Maybe she's Demora's older sister?
