Hmmm. I probably have that comic.
*Looks at the near-decade old pile of IDW comics.*
Somewhere.
So in NuTrek 4 will we meet Spock's boyfriend? Or will we have to wait for the next incarnation of the Original Series for that revelation?![]()
No, of course not. In the next movie, everyone will be zapped by Trelane and made into carbon copies of the original characters (visually, behaviourally and all) from TOS. Not a shred of difference between them will persist. This will apply to all other visual indices as well (thankfully, the new 8K Arra Alexis cameras surely to be used in the making of the next installment will allow all of us to clearly see the fine details of the papier mache "rocks" and "caves", the fishing line holding the plastic models of the ships and the fine weave of the perforated black cloth with backlighting used to create a star field). Won't it be wonderful? So in NuTrek 4 will we meet Spock's boyfriend? Or will we have to wait for the next incarnation of the Original Series for that revelation?![]()
The only reason Sulu is gay is because the original actor was, a decision that even George Takei was against after he first heard of it. So with Zachary Quinto being gay as well, I assume that Spock will be getting the same service at some point--which would make Uhura his beardHuh?
but actually having Sulu acknowledge/mention/worry about his husband in dialogue with his shipmates when facing a likely death, would've made the revelation better. I can't even remember the other Mr Sulu being given a name.
Whilst I appreciate the effort, it lacked any real substance to it, just some guy Sulu hugs on the station. I'm not saying that they should've been mincing off into the distance, or doing anything ridiculous like that, but actually having Sulu acknowledge/mention/worry about his husband in dialogue with his shipmates when facing a likely death, would've made the revelation better. I can't even remember the other Mr Sulu being given a name.
Even though he was the only one to reprooduce?
Even though he was the only one to reproduce?
So did Kirk and McCoy.
In 2016, you say "Zebras" and I think, "Zebras are cool" but I feel foolish for not noticing Sulu's wife was a dude for the last two decades.
Plus Demora is roughly 5 years old in Beyond, meaning she was born about the time Sulu took the helm. She'd be in her 30's by 2293 when Old Demora was only 19.
Well, for me it was the pretty good revelation - exactly because it was revealed as absolutely usual, trivial thing for Federation society)
You could tell Kirk was a bit envious of Sulu having a family.
