I like some of the design asthetics. Not so much the actual hardware. I like the Prysma but as you can see it wasn't very practical. The red cylinder was nice. But with no batteries and reliance on mains power yeah again not very practical.

I remember some of them.. never wanted to have anything to do with them, standard parts, standard formfactor, might sound pretty boring but it is easier to find spare parts. ;)

I don't know about the ottoman... is it strong enough to actually sit on when you're not using it as a computer?

I wanted an OQO so bad. I love handheld devices like that. The Sony Picturebooks were awesome too.

Windows ME was based on the Windows 95/98 os while Windows 2000 was based on the NT kernal. Nothing strange about it.

Yeah that small handheld looked cool. I love devices like that and wish I had the time and money to go hunt some down. Not just to use but to have a play around and see the internals. The pyramid shaped computer still intrigues me. I wonder what kind of mainboard it had.

I really do love looking at old circuit boards and hording stuff that has lots of them, not just to use but to do teardowns and stuff.

Oh that's right. I was thinking 2000/Millenium. I never used Me even once, but had a copy of 2000 for a while before I went to XP.

I have somewhere in the cupboards a sealed copy of Windows XP Full edition 64 bit. Wondering if that would be fun to install.

I'm currently using one of these cases which is an oddball but I've been pretty pleased with it.

I used to have a traditional tower case with the Antec Sonata III

Was a great case but I wanted something odd but functional. I really wanted something like the Liam Li snail shape case but the pricetag was beyond reasonable.

I ended up with the same Coolermaster case you have only mine is the HAF XB . Only changes I made were buying a pack of magnetic filters to put on the vents ... That's made a world of difference for cleaning.

Only can't buy two intake fans with the same ratings as the stock fans the case comes with. Everything I have tried seems underpowered compared to the stock fans.

Could throw that on a cheap small form factor machine and make a nice little emulator box.

I'd like to do something similar, but think even older. I have some 5.25" & 3.5" floppy based games I miss playing.

It's not so much the age of them, but motherboards haven't supported the 5.25" in some time and OS's are the same way. I had a motherboard with SCSI support, but XP wouldn't recognize the drive.

And then being able to run re-released CD based stuff that requires DOSbox natively would be nice.

Well GOG has a lot of the older DOS type games configured with Dosbox.

I could use the XP disk with a really cheap motherboard and case. Wanted to do stuff like the old NOLF games which are a pain in the butt to get running in Windows 10. Worked in 8 but had graphical issues.. Those games were the best fun..

Also trying to find somewhere to buy 007 Nightfire. I miss the hell out of that game and can't play it because the disk I have is too badly scratched.

I don't have the Evo but I figured close enough for the visual. You have me intrigued about magnetic filters, have to look into that because it does get dusty in the front pretty easily.

I get your points--but don't you at least want designers to make the computer look like it is part of the future--that we now live in/

It seems as if products of all types are becoming more and more dull. If nothing else, the tube thing could make its way into a new ENTERPRISE set. That IBM little tykes thing--I would have loved that as a child.

Computers should look important. It is almost as if we now live in a reversed Pleasantville where our surroundings become less colorful-- as PCs become daguerreotype frames...

I had a case with a front door & front intake fan and a side intake & fan for the CPU. I kept that sticky nylon filter material in front of both fans. It's not so thick as to restrict airflow, but the stickyness catches a lot of dust.

It's a start.

If I had world enough and time--I'd want circuits to form patterns not just useful--but lovely.
