Well, the Star Trek: Discovery announcement seems to suggest the new TV series will be set between Enterprise and TOS -- i.e., the Axanar timeframe. Settlement or no, I think that kills Axanar permanently dead. Might even sink in through the Axanar Marines' reality distortion field.
No. ^^^That is a true tragedy of the highest magnitude. There were real children who died terribly from being forced to drink non-metaphoric real poisoned kool ade. They were confused people who were caught by an unspeakable charismatic who gave them hope, took their money, and took their lives away from reality.... and then killed all of them who could not escape his twisted self.Someone should photoshop him in here

From a post on the Axanar facebook page:
Go see Star Trek Beyond! It is a great movie, real Star Trek and a whole lot of fun. A whole bunch of us got to go to the Premier here at SDCC last night and I can tell you, we ALL loved it!Argh. Alec is one of those people who don't know the difference between premier and premiere. Now I'm a hater for sure.
And while many of you are pissed off about the lawsuit (so are we!), and many of you have said you will boycott everything CBS/Paramount (and we appreciate your support!), we prefer that we all share in the love of Star Trek and celebrate the 50th anniversary of our beloved show.
JJ Abrams and Justin Lin have showed their support for Axanar and we need to show them ours.
Thank you!
Alec

Hmm... looks like the show being set between Enterprise and TOS thing is conjecture based on the ship registry number, not actually confirmed at SDCC. The official line is that they're not saying just yet when the show is set.
Plus there's an interest in and a value to origin stories. I think we naturally like to know how it all began, as much as we like to know what happened afterwards.STD does seem like an acronym that would face boycotts from some quarters, I bet they tweak it. As far as timeline, I think writers have time-block about what could come past Voyager. After all a ship piloted by and away missions operated by VR probably wont relate till VR home theater becomes more widespread. Audience still needs to hear switches click and voice commands given against automated opposition and see actors successfully dodging laser beams.

Oh, that's wicked!Oh, I do hope Picard's nanny woke him up to watch Shakespeare...

^^^That ship design sure sucks.
Just saw the teaser for DISCOVERY. And again I will beg forgiveness for this indignant but oh, so well-deserved remark.

I don't know if this was previously mentioned but the new Newsweek celebrating the 50th Anniversary has an article about Star Trek Fan Productions and, specifically, Axanar. Included in it is a large image of Alec.
I immediately put it back on the shelf when I saw it...
