Re: SKRS #4: All That's Left by Ward & Dilmore Review Thread (Spoiler!

I actually saw this one at one of the local grocery stores, which hasn't happened in ages. I wonder if the 50th Anniversary and Beyond have raised enough awareness that Star Trek merchandise will start popping up in more places now?

Finished this yesterday. And I thought it was a good premise... but a story that ended practically when it should have started. Because, thwarting the Lrondi's agenda wasn't really suspenseful since we haven't heard of a parasitic lifeform taking over the galaxy (at least not this parasitic lifeform...), the aftermath of that fight would have been far more interesting. The crew getting over being collected, essentially being violated, manipulated into having compassion with a species who just takes without asking - do their reasons actually matter? That should have been the topic, as well as the Pelopans and Lrondi working out a way to an equal coexistence (if the Pelopans even want that).

I feel cheated out of a great premise. I still by far prefer the Endeavour to the Sagittarius, but the series as a whole remains rather lackluster.

BTW, when I tried to picture the Lrondi attached to their host's neck... I was so reminded of Babylon 5 and that species who took hold of Londo at the end. *g*

I have to say that the negativity of this forum is getting too much. It has to stop before oo many people are driven away.

What? The conversation you're talking about was from like 8 months ago. If negativity on the forum is that much of a scourge, I'd think there would be a more recent example. I didn't even remember what you were talking about until I reread the thread, because again, this was 8 months ago, and I was in the conversation.

Plus, ironically, even if he did leave because of negativity (which I think was debunked in another thread already?) Dayton Ward came back in the last couple weeks anyway. :p

But now we want to be exclusive, Dayton. We've changed. We have different needs, now. We've realized boundaries are important.

We are the Board. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated into the core user group.

Even if it was 8 months ago, it's still relevant to reply to. I don't see that things have changed that much. There are still those here that when he/she doesn't like something says so in a very insulting negative manner and that is what's wrong. We've lost a number of authors who no longer hang out here because of this. Part of the problem (as I see it) is that the moderators didn't do anything to stop this before it got too much and drove people away.

Name more than the obvious one. (or Third in his case)

Other than DRG3, I wonder who you are referring to. What other writers have we "lost"?

Book didn't really capture my attention. Took me several months with several breaks to get through it. I think I am done with Seekers after this. I hope the author's entry into the Legacies trilogy is much better.

I just finished rereading all four Seekers books and I had a quick question: is the Endeavour's Edosian Chief of Security's name Lerax (in Book 2) or Brax (Book 4)? Either way, I thought he was a cool character; in fact, all three of the Seekers' ships (Endeavour, Sagittarius, and Aephas) had pretty cool crewmembers.
