You're in for a long wait. Just liike the people expecting the Pre-Crisis continuity to return. And you need to direct your anger directly at DC, not bitch and whine on a TrekBBS. Acting like an adult would help. I doubt DC ( or any organization ran by adults) pays attention to people who use phrases like "stupid", "crappy" and "idiotic" as a way of expressing an opinion.
So? DC doesn't care about anything. They're just publishing books to keep copyrights and to support the movies. I'll call those brain dead sea cucumbers whatever I want. It doesn't matter if I eloquently critique them or if I just tell them to fuck off. It won't change anything either way, but the second option makes me feel better. I'm not talking to DC and trying to write some formal complaint, I'm standing up for the good DC characters on a forum.
The Black Canary who was the daughter of the Earth-1 Black Canary but for a while thought she was the Earth-1 black canary and then it turned out it was the earth-1 version in her daughter's body and who Batman was secretly in love with until he passionately grabbed her and kissed her - I completely agree.
Yep, i'd take her. She's a real Black Canary, and she would never have been a singer, either. It was a weird set of circumstances, but decent enough for the era. Heck, outside of the weird backstory, she acted and was basically the same character from a personality standpoint as the Black Canary immediately before the New 52 reboot. By 2011 the writing was more in depth so we got more from characters, but the core was mostly the same, they felt like they could be the same character (minus the weird backstory).
Its all about the core of the character, anyway. I can say that I want the real Superman, the core character, but not mean I want him to juggle planets or be an ass to Jimmy or shoot rainbows out of his fingers. The past has stupid stuff too, and a lot of it really doesn't count toward who the character is. But, i'll take the convoluted pre-Crisis Canary before Dazzler Canary. She was better written, and (again) basically the same character we got until 2011.
Everything that's current will date a character. The stories take place in the "now". The setting, the fashions and the hair styles and the technology will be current to when that story was written, drawn and published. Even the Barbara Gordon stories you enjoy had her using technology and looking like what ever was current then. And even if that Barbara was being used right know she wouldn't be using tech that was an decade or more out of date. Oracle would be tweeting, snapchatting and facebooking just like her new 52 counterpart. So unless they come up with a book called Oracle '99 you're not going to find a version of Barbara using out of date technology and looking like its the 90 or the '00s
There is no dimension where Oracle would have been tweeting or using snapchat, etc if her stories were written without a reboot in 2016, at least not where it would effect the story. In an in universe sense, as a regular person? Maybe. In the off screen time when characters presumably eat, drink, use the restroom, grocery shop, watch tv, etc I could see her doing it. In her superhero adventures (i.e. the stuff we see in comics)? No way.
Also, what are you even talking about with "Oracle '99"? Of course she should have up to date tech. Fancy computers, ipads, etc. There is a difference between having up to date tech, and having a character obsessed with social media.
