I don't think Ramsay is strong enough a villain for it to be worth drawing out his reign of terror any longer. But Littlefinger's carefully timed entry to make sure both armies took heavy losses sets him up for a huge power move. He probably hoped Jon would die before he got there so it'd be Sansa's unchallenged authority with his whispers in her ear.
That battle scene may have captured the abject chaos of war better than any battle scene I've ever seen.
Another scene I liked was when Tyrion told the three Masters one had to be sacrificed, then he spared only the one they picked.
I don't know what the other two were thinking there. Announcing in the middle of class warfare, 'Kill him, he's is the lowborn one!'
