Game Of Thrones Season 6 Discussion (Spoilers)

Hold the door :(:(:(

That hit so hard like few things did in GoT and that means something. A fan (and personal) favorite gets to go out a true hero and we learn what Hodor truly means.. my heart is broken and there were some tears i have to admit :weep: Such a tragic story.. no lords, lofty goals, ambitions or uber combat prowess.. just a simple man whose life was destined to end in true heroism.

The feeling of horror and sadness when i put two and two together what Hold the door truly meant.. my hat off to Martin for coming up with this and playing such a terrible long game and giving a beloved character a send off that will be talked about for years to come.

The rest of the episode pales in comparison.

I'm guessing Theon and Yara end up going to Mireen to give Dany a lift back to Westeros. Euron won't have the ships for that trip any time soon since all the good ones got nabbed. His new fleet will likely be incinerated by dragons on its maiden voyage.

He has said that he "brings a beloved character back to life." It's widely believed that the character he refers to is The Hound and that this therefore makes McShane one of the holy men on the island who Brienne met in AFFC(?). Seeing as Brienne has been sent back to the Riverlands by Sansa, it looks like she'll encounter them again, though in the books IIRC she'd never previously met Sandor, much less duelled him.

As for last night...wow. I didn't watch the leaked version and while it wasn't spoiled for me, I got the gist from comments on Facebook that something big and heartbreaking would happen. Never saw this coming at all though. Poor Hodor. I've amended my signature accordingly!

Where next for Bran and Meera? To Castle Black? Or will they encounter Benjen Reed or
Coldhands
?

Euron appears to be a combination of book Euron and Victarion (Aeron seems to be excluded altogether) but I'm curious to see where the Yara and Theon story goes.

I'm surprised that Sansa believed Littlefinger about the Blackfish so readily (please be true!) and also that she didn't tell Jon how she knew. Why not just tell him the truth? And why not send a Raven to house Tully to find the truth?

Still loving Brienne/Thormund! They're gonna have the biggest and hairiest kids ever!

^ Ah ok, thanks. I think IMDb also listed him too but I thought that might be down to an over-enthusiastic fan.

The show doesn't seem to be acknowledging that he's another Greyjoy brother though.

I'm still convinced that
That Benjen and Coldhands are one and the same.

Yeah, that bothered me a lot. Based on the book, the priest clearly is Aeron Damphair (even if his hair wasn't that damp) but the show didn't even try to acknowledge his relationship with Euron, Yara and Theon.

I feel like by that point Littlefinger figured that Sansa would know if he was lying to her, and she seems to be the only person in the world since Catelyn died that he truly cares for and wants to help. She's his one weakness.

As for why Sansa lied to Jon, I'm guessing it's because by telling him the truth she would have also had to tell Jon that Littlefinger also brought with him the army of the Vale, which is camped out at Moat Cailin. Of course, Jon would want to ally with the Valemen because it gives his side a much better chance against Ramsay's forces, but Sansa clearly doesn't want to have anything to do with Littlefinger anymore.

I think eventually Jon will find out and Sansa will reluctantly agree to the alliance.

Hodor might be a wright now.
Since the children of the forest created the WW from the first men, i wonder if the WW have free will since they choose to rebel against their creators.

I'm calling it now: Bran wargs into Wright-Hodor, gains a spy in the White Walkers' plans in the process, informs our heroes, and ultimately saves the Seven Kingdoms.

Fandom seems to be divided on that theory (I personally don't think so) but I could well see the show amalgamating the two.

Having to double post as the original post kept spoiler-coding both quotes and I'm basically a techno-dork. But thanks for the clarification, I must've missed that dialogue for some reason:
Didn't she state that Ramsey was capable of intercepting Ravens, so she was sending Brienne instead?

My take on this whole thing was, she trusts Jon, but not the several other people sitting around the table when they were talking about. Other than Brienne, she doesn't know any of them from Azor-Ahai and after all she's been through in the past few years, I don't think anyone could begrudge her of some trust issues. :)

Wight-Hodor? I hadn't thought of that but it makes sense that we will see that in a future episode.

I would imagine with Bran and Meera on the run from the White Walkers and their undead wraiths. That they will run into
Benjen/Cold Hands, who helps them escape

With them heading to
Winterfell, to where the White Tree they heard the whispers from, so Bran can "jack in."

I'd rather believe she knows she has Littlefinger by the balls which may prove useful in the future but telling Jon might mean him going apeshit and lobbing off his head first time he sees him (or he might lose it and actively go looking for him), Either way her strategy may go astray with Jon knowing.

If that is true then it shows how much she's learned from all the figures around her.. she is becoming a master player herself by thinking about long term goals as opposed to personal revenge as Cersei would for example. Sansa might well become a major player by the time GoT concludes.

I'm thinking about family trees here, are Starks a potential kingsblood source?

Could Milisandre potentially have her sights on Sansa?

^ The Starks were Kings in the North until they bent the knee to Aegon the Conqueror. The title was reclaimed by Robb during the war of the five kings. But I'd have thought that her failure with Stannis and Shireen would have put Melisandre off that particular tactic.

Millisandre is a religious fanatic, she can easily attribute some other turn of fortune to Shireen's sacrifice such as Jon Snow's resurrection. Come to think of it there's another witch hanging around Denerys now. Both are claiming to back the person they are with.
