Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

I'm a bit disappointed Barry's not actually dead. The ending of the episode, knowing that he couldn't die, failed to impress me. So I rewatched it trying to convince myself he had actually been decimated. Wow. That was good, and I mean really good, as if it was the intended interpretation. And would have been one major twist. We have two Flashes to replace him, after all, and capitulating to Zoom was a firing offence. And even though I like this Wells, I sometimes wish he got stripped out of his arrogance for good.

I'm unsure whether I would like whatever gimmick is going to explain his absence (“trapped in the speedforce” sounds intriguing when you don't think about it), but from the screencaps from the next episode it seems it will be put to very good use. That will be either very very good, or very very bad, but either way I'm thrilled.

It wouldn't be much of a show without Barry Allen. Even if Wally West were to take on the mantle, he's a secondary character at this point and hasn't been established and fleshed out.

Yeah, except the Crisis on Infinite eat the doesn't happen for a little while

Wally became Kid Flash long, long before Crisis. In fact, he debuted in 1959, just three years after Barry Allen himself. He was Barry's sidekick for a long time, as well as a member of the Teen Titans. When Barry died in Crisis, Wally was "promoted" from Kid Flash to the Flash.

Yeah, i know... he's also supposed to be white & his nephew-in-law ;) But I was just replying to the idea of Wally replacing Barry already -- and in-show evidence says now.... hmm. who was trying to do a Teen Titans show? Could there be some network crossover....?

Yeah, i know... he's also supposed to be white & his nephew-in-law ;)

But that's the point. They aren't obligated to do what the comics did. They can mix and match elements all they want. So there's no reason Wally's origin story needs to be attached to the Crisis.

Yeah it would definitely be pretty cool to see Shipp in the Jay Garrick Flash costume that Zoom was wearing for a while. Unless maybe they're planning to retcon the 90s Flash into being the Jay Garrick of Earth 2 instead? Or maybe he's from yet another Earth?

Whatever the real Flash's background might be, I doubt he'll be wearing the exact same costume. The flashbacks we've already seen made it fairly clear that the helmet at least belonged to Zoom's dad.

If Wally does get powers, he's unlikely to be referred to as Kid Flash since Barry and he are much closer in age, so what will they call him? If they are mixing up comic elements, my money's on Impulse.

Alternatively, with his racing background: Turbo or Torque

Impulse would make sense, yeah. And considering her nickname, Jesse's very likely to just stick with Jesse Quick.

Question is, does she go back to Earth-2 and be the partner/trainee of (hoping here) the real Jay Garrick? While Wally does the same for Barry?

^there were times when I thought the same for the characters on Lois and Clark. I mean..come on the way clark left and superman showed up on tv

I think Barry was exaggerating when he said he has been to an Earth where everyone is evil. Obviously he means Earth 2. Where a lot of his friends are super-villains.Caitlin, Cisco, Ronnie, Linda Park. Jay was really Zoom.

I suspect the real Jay Garrick maybe Earth 2 Barry's great grandfather.

I like the suggestion that The 1990s Flash got stuck on Earth 2 at some point, and to not interfere with the existing Allens, he took the alias Jay (from his deceased brother) and Garrick (his mother's maiden name.)

I am moving soon and have been throwing out a lot of old VHS tapes. I was happy to see my tapes of Tom Cavanagh's first series ED still work. Last time I tried they did not work at all. It's never gotten a DVD release and only briefly rerun on TBS. I really love that show, it was pleasant surprise to see him on the Flash went it started. Which I watched anyways a fan of the character.

In light of the new episode being directed by Kevin Smith here's a video of him watching the end of the season 1 finale and i think we all can relate to it (i was nearly there too and i have never even come close to crying because of a TV show).
