Agents of SHIELD: Season 3 - Discussion (SPOILERS LIKELY)

assassin, who? She was Coulson's bodyguard who killed in the line of duty and went on desk duty because she was so wounded. From there all of Coulson's plans assume that hand to hand that she will take out any collection of Hydra or someone who tested just below Romanoff.
Whaa...? She went on desk duty because of psychological trauma, nothing physical. While they totally ruined her reputation by detailing the events that lead to her gaining her nickname as the Calvary, there's been absolutely nothing to indicate that she's not one of the top non-powered combatants in the world.

I'm really confused by this whole conversation. I mean, whether or not she is how pretty much everyone else on the show believes her to be (as opposed to some random person on a message forum who wants to disbelieve it for whatever reason), what does that have to do with anything about who might not make it to the end of the season?

I t is a new story. The end of active duty kill her off or have her transition like Peggy Carter did by Ant Man. For the show with a large cast Ming Na is as vulnerable as anybody. They already teased in an episode that May had the mission because Bobbie was not available. Playing the long game for a show needs characters to move on.

Then like the rumors of Chris Evans not wanting to stay bulked up to play Steve Rogers we have Ming Na also hitting a stage of life where black uniforms can only do so much

So was Malick's vision wrong? Judging from last week, the future is immutable. So is Malick still going to be killed by Hive, or did he experience the death from the inside and just assume he was experiencing his own instead of his daughter's?
Or it just hasn't happened yet.

What is the limit on the types of things Giyera can control? Why couldn't he control someone's clothes?

100% cotton ;)

Or maybe his Achilles heel is polyester....

I am getting old, I was thinking 1970 was too late for Powers Booth and the scene should have been back into the 60s but nope it fits for him.
If it was 1970, then they should have been at least a bit shaggier, rich kids or not. Slightly longer in the back and sideburns.

May is the best thing on the show--Don't touch my May!

I appreciate them taking the time to flesh out Malick as a character with a history and growing doubts. He was pretty 2 dimensional at first. It would be pretty interesting to see him help SHIELD fight Hive.

May is indeed awesome, and I'm fairly certain they won't kill her (it'll be one of the new secret warrior folks, like Joey or Yo-Yo, or possibly Lincoln), but how is no one talking about Giyera? That was pretty much the most badass super-villain hit we've ever seen on this show! He took down Coulson and May and their whole plane! Damn!

Speaking of the Secret Warriors, when they said at the end it's time to summon them!!!

At this point in the show, isn't that only Yo-Yo and melty guy? Or am I forgetting someone?

Yep, it's just Daisy/Quake, Lincoln, Joey (melty guy), and Elena/Yo-Yo.

Lincoln is the one you were forgetting.

The hope is James is J.T. James (Hellfire) and will join as well. I'm not expecting Phobos anytime soon (and I suspect Sebastian Druid would come after Doctor Strange, if at all), but I think the rest could make it eventually. Manifold (Eden Fesi) was at least name-dropped.

James needs to start a steady diet of sea food...

We can head canon that the ATCU suppressed that knowledge and initiated a fish oil recall. Maybe after a visit from SHIELD and knowledge of Jaiying's and Afterlife's deaths he will get exposed and his dream will come true.

A fine episode. I like the Secret Warriors set up and I can't wait to see what happens next with the rest of the team. I do have a problem with this future crap. If I saw myself die in a black suit, I'd wear green shorts or something. It all just seems changeable.

I also think the death will be one of the Secret Warriors (minus Skye/Daisy). My money is on Yo-Yo. Everyone else has an in depth story.

Don't forget about Deathlok. He's been sidelined until Sheild can repair him and Coulson just got a human looking hand. Who knows what Deathlok will get.

I thought that too and even if May's clothes were too organic, her zippers/buttons aren't, and then there's whatever's in his pockets.

I'm not forgetting him, he just wasn't part of the first small group they showed Daisy assembling, which were all Inhumans (see below).

They will no doubt expand that as they go on, of course, and perhaps Mike can join them then, possibly Creel if they decide to keep him a good guy, or Alisha/multiple woman if she's recovered from her trauma.

I figured that out as soon as we saw the flashback of the brothers tossing the stone in the pond, after we'd seen Hive do the same in front of Gideon. No doubt that was Hive confirming to Malick that he did retain Nathaniel's memories.

I half-expected that, because it's unfortunately all too common in fiction for female characters to be killed off by one male character to "send a message" or "make a point" to another male character. It was possible that Hive would've killed Gideon and made the daughter his new ally, and that's what we were being led to expect, but it came as no surprise when it went the more predictable route.

I was actually expecting Gideon to volunteer for a suicide mission (probably whatever happens on the quinjet) in order to ensure that his daughter wouldn't remember him as a coward. That Hive instantly killed her instead was a bit of a shock for me, in that I now have absolutely no idea what the relationship between Malick and Hive is going to be (which is a good thing).

They should have pumped knockout gas into the chamber like they did with Garner/Lash earlier this season and waited until they landed for interrogation.
