Hey! The ship's main core was 53% destroyed and it repaired itself and kept going for thousands of years in orbit around the solar system! It took huge damage when all it takes to knock out an SD or SSD is a few torpedo hits
I recognize that, and knew it would come up. And, I could be wrong, as I am judging off of a single scene, so, in context it might make sense. However, my personal irritation is that TESB was a desperate, nearly one sided battle that the Rebels were lucky to survive. In RO, I suppose it could seem the same way, but I have a feeling that the heroes will survive the assault on three walkers, which could work and could go really poorly.
After analyzing these photos closer I'm starting to think now that the overlaid ships are a bit two small. If we take the Millennium Falcon and turn it so we can see its top it would be quite a bit bigger than the shield generators on the star destroyer on both of the photos so the star destroyer overlay photos would need to be increased in size. Also since the star destroyer pictures are over layered on the still picture it seems that they would both be hitting the top and bottom walls of the trench. This was a good attempt but it has not convinced me 100%. Also the star destroyer shown in the RO trailer is much smaller and would easily fit in the trench with much room to spare. All I can figure is that the star destroyers in RO are much smaller than what we saw in ANH and TESB. I don't know why this is bugging me so much. I need to get some sleep but I keep thinking about this.
I think they are fleeing an Imperial garrison that has called in its AT-ATs, and the group is trying to make a run past them to whatever ride they might have, or some open communications terminal so they can send off the plans before they die.
As I said, context of the film will determine my final feelings. But, just upon initial watch, it was something that stuck out to me.
There was a certain "rogue filmmaking" aspect to the original trilogy that I feel isn't quite there with TFA and the brief snippets of Rogue One that we've seen... a charming kind of roughness, I would say. It's like there's just a bit too much polish, or something. Does anyone else feel this way? Kor
Only "STAR WARS" feels that way to me. Neither ESB or RotJ have the same sort of "well this could easily have been terrible." air of having the right combination of genius, madness and luck.
Its from a two series show called Aquila that was on the BBC nearly twenty years ago. The show started with two boys in the countryside finding a pit full of treasure and an escape pod called Aquila from a Yrrillian Battle Cruiser (although its unclear if Aquila is the name of the pod originally or if the previous user called it that after he found it). The boys decide to alert the authorities after telling their parents but decide to keep Aquila after some debate about what to do with it. (As an aside, the farmer on whose land it is, gives them 50p each... This is against the law as under the Treasures Act, land owner and finder/s are entitled to a 50/50 split in the proceeds - though it might be possible the book and series writers were unaware of this). Over the course of Series 1 and Series 2, they learn what Aquila can do and end up going on a number of adventures including taking the flag from Apollo 11's landing site, stealing the top of Mount Everest for a rock collection and flying to Mars just for the hell of it. Unlike other people who would use it for terrible purposes, both boys keep it an open secret by saying it is a prop they had purchased from a movie - telling only a next door neighbour and a pen pal of one of the boys. As the help screen was last set to display latin, both boys have to figure out a way to make it display English which they do eventually manage. It should be noted that in the books, one of the boys is dyslexic and so will ask Aquila to display information using numbers and pictures - becoming an important plot point later on. One of the other things is that they normally test Aquila's abilities in open spaces in case they activate weapons that could harm people and buildings - they do use a knock out device on a low setting several times when in difficulty or in trouble. Series 2 ends with the old church tower they hide Aquila in under threat of demolition, so they start to panic and begin moving out, only for the imaginary friend (a full blooded "Red Indian" as they call him) of their neighbour to help by suggesting they move it. The neighbour suggests that they hide the church tower in a wood that her family owns so they go back and tractor, yes tractor, the entire tower over to the wood. However, a young relation ends up being knocked out for some time inside (the boys don't know) and changes Aquila to accept commands from him only. Eventually, they regain control by agreeing to get him a portable communications device from the Yrrillian ship that both boys thought had been destroyed but the relation reveals it was somewhat intact - enough to begin automated repairs on its own. The series ends with them agreeing and the scene changes to show the ship accelerating away under their control. All episodes can be found on youtube in a few differing examples of watchability, though all are clear in sound and picture.
You should be forced to watch The Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage, and Ewoks: Battle for Endor on a continuous loop as you are slowly digested over a thousand years.
That shot impressed me because it gave a sense of the abject terror those poor Rebels would feel as they tried to flee from those behemoths. In ESB we get one shot from the control room of the AT-AT as they are mowing down individual Rebels on Hoth, and we get one shot where the AT- AT is sort of up and at an angle firing down on the troops, but because of the limits of the FX there isn't that direct "shaky-cam" kind of running with the troops shot that gives you a sense of scale and the helplessness that an infantryman would feel when confronted by one of those monster walkers.
