Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

I remember when the folks at Cadmus were good guys. Now the Evil Factory, those guys, totally bad ( It's in their name)

With Barry Allen crossing the Multiverse next week and teaming up with Kara, I think tonight's episode just introduced us to the first PURE Metahuman in the SG universe in one Siobhan Smythe.

Really liked the flashback scenes. I'm all for great character backstory and tonight it came is spades. I would have liked more follow up to last week's episode but at least we got some. So does this mean Alex is out of the series for a while or is this now the A/B plot to the finale? I do agree, Harper was way too one demensional for my tastes and Lucy being back in the military made me think I had missed an episode. Why do series do this by the way. Have characters, take them off the screen, and then all of a sudden they are back in new roles. It happened on Orphan Black and it happened here. Yeah they tried to explain it on both shows, but I still found it a little irksome that we didn't actually see that transition and it happened "off screen".

And now Siobhan is a metahuman or something. I didn't expect that so that was a nice surprise .

Oh, Cadmus, not ARGUS. I was thinking of Amanda Waller on Arrow.

And Siobahn, an Irish name, hello?

Waller has been associated with Cadmus in the comics and other media before, so it's not out of the question that a version of her exists on SG-Earth and that she could possibly be associated with that "agency".

Was not expecting Siobhan to manifest her sonic ability out of nowhere.

I gotta wonder: who's in charge of Cadmus in this fictional universe? How high does it go? Any DC Presidents of the U.S. who are likely to be adapted into Supergirl?

Black budgets, in theory work that senators on committees controlling billions, derail 10s of millions to people who can get the job done, without leaving a paper trail.

The President shouldn't know anything.

Plausible deniability.

The DEO we were lead to believe earlier is supposed to be super secret, and therefore not be answerable to the US Government or the Army, or Congress, or the President.

Harper being so one-dimensional without any nuance or much of a vocabulary was rather disappointing. Basically set up Hank to be 100% victim in the episode without any serious consideration to the fact that an alien was pretending to be a high-ranking government agent for 10 years.

You recognize the name?

Jim Harper is the Guardian.

In the comics, he's the Clone of a 1940s superhero built by Cadmus.

A tiny tweak to his origin, and Harper is the willing slave to all thing Cadmus.

But it's unlikely we'll ever see Jim ever again.

I was very happy to see the deleted Pilot scenes used here. Dean Cain's character has barely had screen time until know. So much of his presence has been dependent on his previous history in the franchise. We knew he was Kara's adoptive father but it seemed his supposed death happened after she went to live with the Danvers. So its nice too see him as an actual character and their relationship.

There are a lot of mysteries about his relationship with Superman. Its been very vague. Just that he helped him understand his powers. Superman must really trust Jeremiah and Eliza. It would be nice to know more about how that happened.

Also J'onn has made comments that he and Superman know of each. Possibly for many years. I rewatched the episode when "Hank" revealed himself to Alex. J'onn said only one other person knew his secret. In another episode he mentioned that he and Superman know that his mind reading powers do not work on Kryptonians.

We already knew that Daniel DiMaggio, the actor who played Young Kal-El in "For the Girl Who Has Everything", was going to be a recurring character, so it's "informed speculation" on my part that we see him come back as a cloned version of Clark created by Cadmus.

Do we know he'll be recurring? I hadn't heard confirmation from the producers of that, just speculation from fandom. Source, please?

Besides, DiMaggio's only about 13 or so, isn't he? At least, Dream Kal-El was. That's a bit too young for the clone Superboy, I think.

Guest actors cost money. A show can only afford to use them so many times. So sometimes the in-between stuff has to be skipped over.

I hope Flash feels like flash. Sometimes these crossovers characters just don't feel right.

The episode is co-written by Andrew Kreisberg, the showrunner of The Flash as well as the co-showrunner of Supergirl. So I think we can safely expect the character to be written the same way.

Waller has been associated with Cadmus in the comics and other media before, so it's not out of the question that a version of her exists on SG-Earth and that she could possibly be associated with that "agency".

Given that Arrow apparently wrote Waller out of their series because of her upcoming appearance in the Suicide Squad movie, I'd say it's doubtful that any version of the character would appear in Supergirl. DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. doesn't like there to be two competing live-action versions of the same character, the Flash being an odd exception. (And Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and Jim Gordon, but I guess their Gotham versions are considered distinct due to the age difference.)

@Christopher: It was mentioned in the casting call for Young Kal-El that the role was meant to be recurring, which led to confusion as to how he'd fit into the show.

Also, why do you feel like 13 is too young to do the Superboy angle? It fits with the whole basic motif of the Teen Titans concept, and is also in line with the original intent of the Supergirl character herself, albeit in reverse (she's the mentor and he's the mentee).

Regarding the whole "multiple characters can't exist simultaneously" thing, it really is an outdated way of thinking that is directly contradicted, on the whole, by the existence of Gotham, the fact that we're getting a filmic Barry Allen Flash at the same time we've got the TV Barry, and statements from Geoff Johns himself.

Yes, there's an embargo in place on Arrow, but I'm convinced that said embargo was REQUESTED rather than mandated, and really wouldn't have any effect on SG anyway.

My speculation about seeing a Superboy clone is just speculation at this point based on Daniel DiMaggio being intended to be a recurring cast member and the introduction of Cadmus and could turn out to be false, but I can't figure out a reason why the government would have Lex's DNA (assuming he exists in this universe, which I think is likely but not guaranteed), so it seems doubtful that the half-human/half-Kryptonian thing is something that would be carried over from the comics to SG if I'm right and the introduction of Superboy is in the cards.

Any word if he's going to be half Luthor DNA again?

Have we even had any confirmation that Luthor exists in this continuity? And which version? Corrupt real-estate magnate, corrupt corporate CEO or full-out criminal evil genius roaming about in a green and purple warsuit?
