‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

Gotta say, it's really encouraging to see all the positive and enthusiastic reactions from the screenings so far on twitter. I realize this kind of thing isn't always reliable given how overly amped up people tend to be for these things (and it's a safe bet that the critics won't be quite as nice), but it still makes me even more excited for Friday.

10 year olds are tougher than you think and probably don't read comics. They're more likely to just play the game. Let's not pretend that Marvel doesn't have the same content problems. Their books aren't geared for some kid who watches the Marvel films. I pity the parent who thinks Daredevil will be on the same level as an Avengers film and sets little Tommy in front the tube for a DD marathon :lol:

I just googled (not image search, just google) "Superman action figure". There were two pictures of old superman, and every other one was New 52 or Cavil Superman. Batman gives a bit of variety, with the New 52 mixed with a weird variant, one pre-New 52 Batman, and Nolan's Batman. So, they definitely merchandise New 52.

That said, a Harley Quinn search brings up a bunch of classic Harley and Arkham Game Harley, with only one New 52 Harley. Plus, the Lego Dimensions Harley Quinn is classic Harley, and the Lego Batman 3 video game also uses classic Harley (it looks like there is a pic of newer Harley as well, but that version isn't listed in character unlock guides or in any cutscenes). So, it looks like Classic Harley (with a bit of Arkham Harley) is still the go to version for stuff, at least when it comes to merchandise and games. Almost like she's the version people will pay to have..

Have to admit, those two would look pretty good together.

I'm kinda hoping we see some kind of interaction between Diana and Clark as well in the movie. From the trailers, it appears to be only with Bruce or with the two of them together, but for me it's the idea of Superman and WW interacting that I've always been more excited by.
 
Those pictures are great. It's always nice to see the actors having a good time.

Its not mind reading. DC has a movie and comics to promote, they're going to make the lesser known characters as close to the modern stuff as possible. Characters like Superman might get to keep a classic look just because its more iconic then the stupid newer stuff and its more recognizable, but they want a ten year old to go buy a comic with the character he saw in the game on it (and then get horrified when the character has the body count of the Punisher, but that's modern DC comics for you).

But they also want people to buy the stuff, and if no one liked the new versions of the characters, they wouldn't change the designs on the toys.

A lot of the stuff does still use the Jester costume Harley, but there is this new Lego set which I have seen personally at the Wal-Mart where I work, that does use the New 52 design. It's one of the newest sets, so I think this is the first one with her to use that design. It's also not marked as any kind of a special themed set, so it looks like this is the standard Harley now. There's also the Roller Derby Harley Quinn Funko Pop and a DC Collectibles New 52 Harley.
I'm not denying that the original version of Harley Quinn is popular, but that doesn't mean people don't like The New 52 version too. The original version has been around a lot longer, and it is the version that people are most familiar with, so it makes sense that there would be a lot more merchandise with that design, but there is getting to be more stuff with the New 52 version too.
As for LEGO Batman 3, they do have the New 52 Suicide Squad Harley as part of the Suicide Squad DLC pack.
I'll be completely honest here, the jester costume is actually my least favorite look for Harley. It's cute, but kind of boring. I find the newer designs a lot more interesting, and no it's not because they are skimpier, I actually prefer female character with more reasonable clothing. I just think they're more interesting visually.
 
Yeah the jester costume was a great design for an animated series, but I can definitely see how it might seem a bit too simple or childish for the comics or a big screen movie.

Especially when the Joker himself is so much darker and edgier now than he was in BTAS (as he clearly should be). You can't pair someone like that with the cutesy and kinda nutty Harley of the cartoon; you need to make her a bit edgier as well.

Joker was pretty intense in B:TAS, and in a good way. If the TV censors were a little laxer, that Joker could realistically have been shown being more vicious and it would have fit him perfectly. Putting some tattoes and stupid metal teeth on jared Leto certainly doesn't make him any darker or edgier.
 
I don't think we've seen them together in any of the clips. Other than that, I don't think anyone here can answer that since the earliest releases aren't until Wednesday. There've been a couple of premieres but nobody here seems to have gone to any of them.

I think that at the time B:TAS was on the air, the Joker in the comics had already been darker for some years.
