I haven't picked this up yet, though I am very much looking forward to it. It will be a while til I can get a chance to read it. But it was brought to my attention that this novel spans several months and has some flashbacks. I'm hoping to keep my website's timeline as accurate as possible, sooner rather than later. Would anybody be willing to give me a month by month breakdown of when the chapters take place to add to my Post Nemesis timeline page?

I'll try to pop back in here without spoiling myself. Thanks to anybody who can help!

It would be nice if the list wasn't split by chapters but instead had what the order is for the books (as a whole) to read in timeline order. Yes, I know you have to deal with shifting times, but take each book as a whole and place them where they go. This split chapter timeline is not useful at all.

"Out of chocolate"?

"Washroom temporarily closed"?

"Trump elected president"?

Click on the spoiler link and you'll see what the three most frustrating words are.

It reflects how we were introduced to the character, but he's also had fifteen years of character growth since then. To have it all undone without any explanation or inciting event felt... sudden.

That said: Mage, you made some good points that I hadn't considered before.

The inciting event was the prophecy.

Because of the bad reviews here and on amazon.com

The nay-sayers went way the heck overboard and were downright rude and insulting. Ignore them. They are the reason DRGIII is no longer active here.

At the start of Chapter 10, I'm finding this book to be extremely average. It's frustrating, especially because Serpents Among the Ruins and his Typhon Pact books were stories I liked a lot. I skipped this one the first time around based on the knowledge that Ascendance would be coming out to finish the story and the comments made here and elsewhere. I'm only circling back now because we are in a bit of a Trek literature drought. What is the consensus on DRG3's next two DS9 books? Are they of higher quality and worth reading, or are they similar enough to Sacraments of Fire that I should read the Memory Beta summaries first?
