Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

Good grief, 2 pages on the missile scene?

And I still think it was a fun scene, even though it was "shitty writing".

And yes, that scene at the end with Kara, Alex, and Hank was one of the best scenes of the series for me. I hope fearing that there would be this dark turn between Kara and Alex if Kara did find out because I don't see Supergirl as a dark show, at least not as Dark at The Flash. Heck, I remember when Jessica Jones came out and I was watching that, watching Supergirl provided a nice change of pace because the tone of the series was more fun. I would have hated to see that much darkness between sisters here, even if it did provide good storytelling.

Khm, that quote was a direct response to:

So use your own advice, dude :nyah:

You cannot even be bothered to understand the quote of another. Clue: quoting the "everything is great" crowd does not mean I think it is all bad. I should not have to explain something so elementary, but...

So what happens with Jimmy and Kara now?

Stretched out "will they / won't they" plotting. In this recent episode, Cat made a passing reference to her son, and since that character is played by the series star's husband, do not be shocked to see the lackluster son shoehorned in as another roadblock / drama trigger--probably all the way to the end of the season.

If the series had Jimmy/Kara get together, and it does not work, that's trashing the build-up of a relationship intended from the start (not to mention constantly referred to in media coverage). Its clear that the two characters seem to be connected in (deep) ways Lucy or Cat's son are not, or could not be.

Jimmy was a cheater engaged in an emotional affair, and now hes a pussy, because his girlfriend had to dump him herself, to help the boy go after the woman he really loves.

Lucy is a class act, who deserves better than a callow shit like Jimmy Olsen.

Oh, please, I know you're joking Guy, but...really. She screwed him over when ending part one of their relationship (per-series, according to Jimmy), then feeling the world is hers, comes intruding in his new world, trying to lay claim to him, and his entire personal space. It was good to see the rug pulled out from under Lucy when Kara's reference to Jimmy's father proved he shared what might his most personal history with Kara, not Lucy.

I'd lay 50% of the blame at James' feet. If he was genuinely developing feelings for Kara, he shouldn't have whisked Lucy off for a romantic trip to the mountains just because she was oblivious to his new situation. He's got choices here as an adult, and he made some poor decisions.

I'm with @TREK_GOD_1 on this one...IRL, if your ex-girlfriend not only follows you to your new town, but gets a job in your workplace, that should be setting off some major alarm bells. It's hard to fault James's choices when he was put in such an unrealistic situation to begin with...relationship-wise, she was practically backing him into a corner.

She kind of came off as a stalker. She must know everything James knows when it came to Supergirl? Man I'm not sure if I Would want that kind of girlfriend who has to be a part of every waking moment of my life.

Yes, that was a corner--she shows up and immediately tries to "claim" James again. He has nowhere to run. That's not love, but being possessive no matter the cost to the significant other.

Come off it. Of COURSE he has somewhere to run. He can tell her he's done with her. For fuck's sake, is he a rape victim unable to fight her off?

James's heart might not have been fully in the relationship, but it did feel to me like the writers had Lucy overreacting and being a lot more unreasonable and jealous all season long than she really should have been (especially for a supposedly tough Army prosecutor).

Regardless of who's to blame though, I'm just glad we don't have to watch them and their relationship any longer. And hopefully the writers will be able to give Lucy something a bit more interesting to do on the show now.

In Lucy's defense, she didn't actually demand that James tell her who Supergirl was. She just felt left out because James was confiding more in Supergirl than in his own girlfriend, and it was James himself who had the idea that telling Lucy the truth would fix things. We've seen before that Lucy feels that she's not good enough to compete with a superhero for James's attention. She's insecure about her worth to him, and he wanted to assure her of her worth by showing her that he trusted her with his greatest secret.

Although if he had told her, it probably would've backfired. Knowing that James worked with Supergirl on a daily basis at the office as well as in crimefighting situations would've just made her feel more marginalized.

Now that I think about it, I feel sorry for Lucy. What has she got to be so insecure about? She's staggeringly gorgeous, she's smart, she's likeable, she's a successful professional -- she's someone who makes other women insecure. But evidently she can't see that, and that suggests something rather sad about her upbringing. We've seen what a jerk her father is -- she's probably grown up being constantly belittled by him, made to feel she's not good enough. I wonder if Lois is the same way in this reality.

Lois is, usually, the one who has moved beyond parental expectation. She and Cat wouldn't be rivals otherwise - Cat also has to deal with a parent whose expectations of her life are different and who has learned to measure herself by her own standards. Lucy is, or rather was, trapped in the military mindset because Daddy was a General. She got some good development when she realized Sam was going too far in his anti-alien mindset. Something tells me Lois has had done with these battles years ago - journalist would hardly be on Sam Lane's list of favoured professions, since they expose national secrets. And she is probably - though we don't know for sure - responsible for Superman's positive press image (James was just a photog at the Planet, Lois wrote the stories).

As a sidebar, I keep wondering when the idea of Jimmy Olsen as a photographer came along. When he was introduced on radio, and then when he was added to the comics, he was a copyboy (an entry-level employee who ran copy from reporters' desks down to the presses and served as a general errand boy/gofer), and he eventually became a cub reporter. Over the years in the comics, he went on to become quite an intrepid reporter in his own right, and he was a cub reporter in the George Reeves TV series. I think, but I'm not sure, that the first depiction of Jimmy as a photographer was in the 1948/50 movie serials with Kirk Alyn; at least, I've found one or two photos online of Tommy Bond's Jimmy holding a camera. (Bond, incidentally, is the only live-action Jimmy Olsen who's actually shared the comics character's red hair, which is a bit ironic since the serials were in black and white.) But I kinda think it was the Christopher Reeve movies that really solidified the idea of Jimmy as a photographer in people's minds.

Jimmy was the one emotionally compromised when she made her surprise appearance, trying to drag him back after the 1st half of their relationship ended badly. Jimmy's old feelings--and apparent ability to give her a second chance came from his being manipulated by a consistently self-serving woman.

She begged for Kara's "dad" story to boot her--as she should have been the moment she landed in town.

James's heart might not have been fully in the relationship, but it did feel to me like the writers had Lucy overreacting and being a lot more unreasonable and jealous all season long than she really should have been (especially for a supposedly tough Army prosecutor).

...like vanish, or piss SG off enough to earn a Kryptonian beatdown.
