The new season starts February 18, and the suspense was killing me, so let's get a thread started already...!

Some joyous news for fans of the show:

The season will consist of a double order of 20 episodes, which are to be split into two parts of 10 episodes, with the second half set to air later in 2016.

20,that makes me so happy. Let the pillaging begin! I can't wait to see how Mr and Mrs Rollo are getting along.

I kept thinking there was going to be another season, but I was starting to wonder if perhaps I was wrong on that. Glad to see otherwise. :D

Katheryn Winnick posted a behind-the scenes video on Facebook a few weeks ago. She was having way too much fun spraying fake blood on Rollo with an actual garden hose.

The behind the scenes stuff looks like a bunch of folks who'd be so much fun to spend a night in the pub with.

I am looking forward to Lagertha kicking some ass this season. Time the usurpers learned some fear.

Lagertha's teaser :)

There was another she posted - I guess Ragnar was getting in character, and the rest of the cast were throwing apples at him while he stood there and tried not to flinch. Of course Katheryn nailed him right in the nads.

Looks like History's doing a marathon tomorrow starting partway through Season 2 and running to the end of Season 3, leading into the season premiere.

That was a good start.
Einar betrayed one too many people. Very satisfying end. Rollo and Gisla look to be trouble for each other. Rollo sure knows how to burn the bridges behind himself. Ragnar plotting as ever and a new lady walking around. I'm guessing that purchase was deliberate on Auslaug's part. Floki, this looks like it's going to be a rough season of forgiveness or death or both. It looks a very promising start for everyone. And Lagertha, I hope she does more acting and creating plans rather than reacting. Kalf seems to have a thing for her but I guess she's playing that to her advantage.

And we haven't even gotten to the massive screw job in Wessex, yet. A whole bunch of betrayal there with Aella and Ecburt not to mention Kwentrith.

The opening credits also had a whole new vibe of blood, gore, and death. This should be a wild ride of a season. The Valkyries are gonna need more horses.

Rollo's ambush was a little too easy to see coming given that they'd just had Kalf do essentially the same thing to Einar. It'd be a surprise at this point if somebody arranged a meeting with their potential enemies and didn't take advantage of the opportunity to slaughter them.

Refresh my memory. How did Rollo end up in France with the princess?

I confess I didn't watch the second season marathon to bring me back up to speed.

At the end of the third season Bjorn was taking Ragnar home and wanted warriors to stay behind to keep a base for the next raiding trip. Rollo volunteered. While there, Charles offered one heck of a bribe making Rollo Duke of Normandy (will be later in history) and giving him Gisla in marriage in return for defending Paris. Rollo saw it as fulfilling the Seer's prophecy, I guess.

Yeah, I never rewatched Season 3 either, and came in feeling a little lost. Glad that others here know all of the newer characters' names, it helps me to learn them.

Got it. Thanks. I couldn't remember if Rollo marrying the princess was Ragnar's idea or something Rollo had done on his own.

Rollo's story is one I'm really looking forward to this season. Both his transformation from viking berserker to somewhat Frankish nobleman as well as his relationship with Gisla, Gisela is the proper name I found online. Her existence is disputed, though. Rollo is credited with another Frankish woman Poppa who his kids are descended from. Who knows if they'll give us that second wife or combine the two women in Gisla? I expect combining them, starting with the troubled marriage alleged with Gisela, and then the happier one with Poppa. The show has already combined one wife in Judith. Aethulwulf's first wife was Osbuhr and she was the mother of Alfred. Judith was a Carolingian princess he married later in life. So, it wouldn't surprise me if they did something similar with Rollo's wives.
