Holy fuck that was awesome. That's all I really have to say.

OK, I guess I'll add this. First, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. Glad this finally happened. Second, I appreciated the bit of a caricature Colossus. He was very closer to Colossus than we've ever gotten before (just exaggerated) and he was the perfect foil for Deadpool since they complement each other quite well.

I just hope some Fox honchos are sitting around saying to themselves, "Well, I clearly have no idea what I'm doing!"

While I agree, there are two things I want to quibble with. First, it's important to remember a studio isn't a monolithic entity. How many studio execs are still around from the Origins: Wolverine days (and who screwed up Deadpool then, the studio execs or the guys making the movie?). Second, while they didn't have any interest until that clip leaked, they certainly supported this movie once they greenlit it. This movie was heavily promoted and not just entirely through novelty internet ads - they had billboards, they had a Super Bowl ad, they bought out a couple stations' entire ad time for a couple of hours so they aired only Deadpool commercials. I wouldn't be surprised if the advertising budget nearly matched the movie budget.

Just back from seeing it myself. The screen was fairly packed and everybody seemed to be having a good time with it.

I figured we all knew that already. My list of things were all decisions made by studio execs. I didn't say they were the same ones.

"The Studio" is the one making money off all this anyway, so I doubt they'll lose any sleep over me accidentally implying that they are a gestalt entity.

just seen it and it was easily the funniest movie I will see in 2016, can't wait for the sequel. The screening was pretty full and everyone seem to enjoy it, not heard a bad word about the movie yet.

On reflection, there were a couple of things I didn't like :

1) Deadpool should have recognised Stan Lee. 'Hey, Stan !'

2) Colossus wasn't nearly shiny enough...

I confess to not knowing anything about Deadpool when I went to see the film, and not many films make me laugh but I really enjoyed this one and have to say Deadpool is my favorite non super hero.

My Grade: B+

Here, we're presented with one of the more interesting and out-of-type comic book movies to come out in years, and along with this movie's uniqueness comes a muddy and mixed up history. Starting with the abysmal "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" where the "Deadpool" character is introduced -somewhat- but massively mishandled in such a manner the studio dropped any plans to produce an independent movie with the character. Flash-forward several years and one Fox/Marvel-Universe semi-reboot/universe reorganization later and we're offered the character again, this time truer to his comic book version.

Wade Wilson is a mercenary who takes jobs to, essentially, settle debts or to act as-a hired gun; though he seems to take on the more "noble" cases as opposed to ones dealing with higher crime; like taking a case where he helps a college girl scare off a stalkery classmate. He meets Vanessa, a call-girl, but manages to woo her into a relationship by hiring her and instead of spending his time sleeping with her instead takes her on a date to play skeeball... And then sleeps with her in the last few minutes of his time. But the two manage to fall in love and begin a strong relationship ultimately culminating into Wade proposing to her with a lolipop ring. What girl could refuse?

It's at that point Wade passes out and soon learns he has terminal levels of cancer, as he begins to resign himself to his fate a mysterious man approaches and offers Wade a chance to survive his cancer via a medical experiment he initially refuses but then reconsiders; but is subjected to grueling and painful experiments aggravated by his need to sass the man running the experiments. The experiments are designed to activate any dormant "X-Genes" in Wade to turn him into the Marvel definition of a "Mutant" though the man running them is cruel and makes no promises other than to turn Wade into a programmable drone-for-hire should he survive. After undergoing his transformation, rendering him severely disfigured, he manages to escape before he can be programmed to be used as a weapon. He then begins to formulate a plan to seek out those running the experiment and kill them, taking on a disguise and naming himself "Deadpool" (as he was high on the list of mercenaries expected to die in action in a betting-pool at the club he got jobs at) he hopes the person running the experiment can fix his appearance so he can go back to his fiancée. Naturally things do not go as planned, particularly as he's being watched over by two X-Men wanting to convince him to join the group.

The movie plays a lot with it's level of humor and makes as much use as it can out of it's "R" rating, including cursing, nudity and gratuitous violence and it feels refreshing after several years of "Die Hard" and "Terminator" movies Nerfed to a PG-13 rating. It's odd how much more "real" a movie can feel with a strip-club scene with nudity in it or hearing more than one use of an F-Bomb in a non-sexual context.

Also consistent with Deadpool from the comics Deadpool occasionally breaks the fourth-wall to talk to the audience or to make meta references (though in the comics I've seen it always seemed to be a function of Deadpool being a bit crazy, here it's more in a "Ferris Bueller" sort of way, with Deadpool narrating his story in hindsight.) The narrative style really seems to work here and Deadpool's wit, snark, and humor works well here and is greatly helped by Ryan Reynolds's screen (or voice?) presence.

The one weak-point in the movie is probably the use of two X-Men (Colossus and someone I don't know) it almost feels unnecessary here other than to give us a bigger climatic action scene with multiple heroes as opposed to just one. If more was done with them it'd probably work and while the "unkown" X-Man used does a decent enough job the use of Colossus here is pretty silly. Probably in line with what the movie was going for but it feels like the poor use of a character in another character's book. Colossus is turned rather weak willed (he actually throws up after seeing someone killed), sort of a namby-pamby and has a pretty darn ridiculous Russian accent, it sounds like something a high-schooler taking Drama for the "Easy-A" would put on for the spring-play. Bronson Pinchot could have pulled off a better accent with Balki's vague ethnicity.

But the action and fight scenes are good, the humor in it is good and overall I enjoyed myself in the movie.

I think the voice actor was Serbian.

I'm not going to read through this whole thread, but I offer my two cents.

It was a hilarious bad-ass movie written and filmed in such a way to capture the essence of its main character. If Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel's class clown, Deadpool is a fucked-up reject who manages to make people laugh and actually like him.

Before I saw this film, I knew next to nothing about Wade Wilson's character. All I cared about was to see Ryan Reynolds' bodacious body in a spandex suit (or lack of an outfit), and there wasn't a shortage of T&A's in that regard, thanks to its R rating. I realized he was an antihero, somewhere between The Punisher and Wolverine (whose balls DP had to fondle to get his own movie), an amoral mutant mercenary with acerbic wit.

I loved the opening credits (God's Perfect Idiot, a British villain, a CGI guy, a gratuitous cameo) as well as the post-credit scene. I loved Morena Baccarin. Nichelle Nichols rocked. The humorous references (McAvoy or Stewart?). The plot itself was thin: getting revenge on the movie's two-dimensional villain.

Overall, it's a hilarious laugh-out-loud super-antihero film that most viewers will remember and appreciate. B+

I don't know a thing about Deadpool except from what I've read on wikipedia and from 9gag. I always had a feeling I would love his comics, but since comics are not a big thing here in the Netherlands, you can't really find them except for in specialty shops, which are also hard to find.

So, I can't comment on how close this was to the source material. I can only comment on the movie itself. And I laughed so loud from the first second of the opening credits to the last second of the end credit scene. Funny, hardcore, sexy, witty. This is all I ask for when it comes to a night out at the cinema's, and Deadpool f***ing delivered!!!

Ryan Reynolds was magnifecent as Wade Wilson. You can tell he has a passion for this character. Morena Baccarin, who I only really know from Firefly, really surprised me and made a good impression as Vanessa. Ed Skrein and Gina Carano are pretty one dimensional as characters, but really make that work as over the top villians who are just plain evil. Karan Soni as Dopinder was extremely funny, in the two scenes he had. And Stan Lee's cameo was perhaps not what I had hoped for, but memorable.

So yeah, for me, Deadpool kicked of the SuperHero Movie year that 2016 will be quite well, and I can only hope that the rest of them can maintain this level of excellent.
