Not entirely unexpected. This could be a "jump on board" moment for people. If they've been waiting for a favourite character to join in the MCU fun...

So..... this makes it look as if Black Panther chose a side. It was my understanding he was going to be neutral?

I think this may be one of the best Trilogies out there, almost every trilogy flops on the third film or it is poorly received by fans. Cvil War might be the perfect film for the Captain America franchise. The Matrix a poor third, Robocop 3, Blade 3, Xmen 3, Terminator 3....
...the Captain will change all this

In some ways, this film has the potential to go wrong. High expectations after a brilliant second film, a huge (cluttered? cast, an adaptation of a well-known story from the comics. Shades of X-Men 3, The Dark Knight Rises or Spider-man 3 anyone? But if the trailers are anything to go by, the Russos have hopefully avoided all the pitfalls.

If so, Captain America might be unique in superhero trilogies in that the first movie ends up being the weakest of the bunch. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed The First Avenger, but The Winter Soldier was a much better film, IMHO. I can't think of another superhero series where the first movie was the weakest. Usually it's the third - DKR, Spider-man 3, X-Men 3, Superman III, Blade III - sometimes the second (Iron Man 2, hopefully Thor 2). The second often improves (the Dark Knight, X-Men 2, Spider-man 2) as happened here but the third is usually a bit of a relapse. Here's hoping the precedent is broken.

I was kind of surprised to see that too.
Nothing I have seen so far has made me doubt that it will be great. Of course the trailers can be deceiving at times, but Marvel hasn't let me down yet.

I thought Winter Soldier was a huge improvement from the 1st film, and the same people are working on Civil War. I think it's going to be great.

As for X-Men, I wish Marvel could get it back so they could do something special with it. I've hated everything Fox has done to those characters, including FF, and Daredevil. So glad Marvel got DD back, the Netflix series is awesome.

I can agree about the Captain America films--CA is the most interesting, dramatic superhero character on film in this period, with stories that did not present as overblown cartoons.

Team Iron Man seems a little weak, both Vision and Panther could decide that they don't want to be involved in this silly struggle and bail. And Widow is pretty tight with Cap.

Team Cap

I like Iron Man, but with stuff like this Cap's usually on the right side. Plus, in the comic version Cap's side wass definitely the right side, and Iron Man became basically a supervillain, so I default to Cap's team at this point.

To me, Iron Man started the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I've rooted for him ever since. I think the reason I didn't like Age of Ultron that much because it wasn't Iron Man heavy like the 1st film. I love Iron Man and I'm hoping he ends up the director of SHIELD like the comics.
Iron Man actually looks like the character I know in the comics, but Cap's costume has been the worst of the adaptations. He should have wings above his ears and be in blue wired chain mail armor. The shield is so spot on but the costume is crap. Come on Marvel give us CAPTAIN AMERICA.

Black Panther costume looks stunning BTW. Yeah, I'm on team Iron Man.

Team Cap. I like pretty much all of the characters, but most of my favorite characters are on that team. I also have a feeling since this is his movie, he'll be the one who is doing the right thing.

Team Iron Man as Cap needs a good few serious dents in that 'perfect' face of his. And wow, why Wanda, why. I know you don't like Tony but throwing your kind under a bus because of it?
