Not exactly. I mean, yeah some of it seems pretty close, but a lot of it is fairly vague plotting, and the story itself is not exactly original whether or not STC came up with it or not. Slavery, and stories related to it are as old as the concept.
This is extremely fannish, but Vic gives me warm fuzzies every time he smiles.Class acts.![]()

He did something nice to cheer me up once and we've never actually met. A friend of mine went to Sakuracon and asked him to make a little "cheer up" message for me. The next time my friend went to the same con and Vic was there, Vic asked about me.
A post on their FB page states there will be an announcement from STC at 1pm PST today (Feb. 4).
I'm guessing it will be related tothe release of Ep. 6. It might also be related to when they will launch their final Kickstarter.
I don't think they would go for a million bucks. If it costs approximately $50,000 to produce an episode and they've got seven epsodes left to reach their target of thirteen in total then they'd need $350,000. They could conceivably have some stretch goals to finish their last seven batch of episodes with style (extra sets?) so then they could aim for $400-500,000.I wonder if they are hoping to get as much money as Axanar got from their fundraisers--of if they want to studiously avoid getting that much.
This. As much as I love sci-fi, and Star Trek in particular, plots get recycled all of the time, and often concepts are similar to one another. It's hard to separate, and so obviously some concepts are going to overlap.
The escaped slave story is nothing new, so it could be pure coincidence. Plus, again, there are TOS episodes that play on themes that Westerns were using at the same time (*cough* Gunsmoke *cough*), so I don't think there's anything concrete in the claim, though if there is, I'm sure we'll find out, and if there is to the point where it really is pulled from this author's novel, then there would need to be legal remedy.
Hopefully that's not the case, though!
I don't think CBS will say anything, Yay or Nay, about it. They can't give a fan film the 'ok', especially with the a lawsuit going on. I'm not saying CBS will stop it, i'm just saying you will not get CBS on record saying its OK. This is really not anything new, Cbs never gives actual permission for any fan films.
Episode 6, "Come Not Between The Dragons," will premiere May 28th.
... including one at Fedcon! And guess who will be there? There will be a couple of sneak previews before for donors,
Despite the troubles for Axanar and the potential ripples of anxiety for other fan productions it still looks like "ahead full" for STC.Vic mentioned on the radio Saturday night that they are building McCoy's medical lab.
They got almost enough for episode 7, and then Steven Dengler made a donation to make up the difference.Wow, how many episodes did the last kickstarter fund? I thought it was just episodes 5 and 6 plus the engineering (complete) and planet sets?
