STC Episode 6 (news and speculation)....

Not only the flying chest kick in "Lolani" but also in "Fairest of them All" there was a fight between Kirk and Spock which one of them was thrown across a table. I remember broken glass on the set from that one.

You must have missed Kirk's flying chest kick in "Lolani"! But from the looks of some of the images they've released from "Come Not Between the Dragons," it looks as if Kirk gets in a bit of a scrap in that one too.
Read my post carefully. I've never said there weren't any fight scenes. As long as the cast doesn't hurt themselves, I'm fine with it but I was thinking of stunt workers volunteering to join STC.

Indeed there was...

Oh yeah, they should get guys with the ill-matching hairlines and completely different builds than the actors. That would be another layer of authenticity to the original.

eta:
I'm still amazed that cannon shell explosion in Divided was 100% CG. It was so well done I thought Vic actual ran into a real pyrotechnics setup.

Episode 6 will be show during the FedCon convention in Germany, between 13 - 16 May 2016.

According to the program the episode is called "Come not between the dragons."
I have no idea if this is the actual title or just a title to peak people's interest.

"Come Not Between The Dragons" is indeed the actual title of Ep. 6.

My controbution perk will allow me to see Ep. 6 before the official May 29 release.

There are times when thinking about episodes, I now have to actually sit and THINK whether it was from TOS or STC, and there are times that in my head, I heard Vic-speeches in Shatner's voice. Its really bizarre. In specific, the part where Apollo is proud of the Apollo moon launches, and Kirk corrects him - but not as a God... it seriously took me a minute at one point to recall which episode (Adonais or Pilgrim).... replaying that in my head I can totally hear Shatner.

Well I never get confused, but I do consider a lot of STC to be consistent with TOS that it isn't hard for me to see it as a faithful extension to TOS. The key is that I can easily envision the original cast saying those lines and doing those things seen in STC.

Right, its very easy for the mind to blur that. The moment I was talking about was a random "flitting thru my mind" moment where it just took a minute to actually pinpoint the source - the point being that it didn't default to "Bill" or "Vic" but just to "KIRK".....

I think the key is when they make an episode that is "classic". They are so close. Also, once they have that or 8-9 good ones will be the point where people think of STC as the natural follow on to TOS. I don't think Vic likes to do "follow-on" episodes but that also could "blur" the lines between the two.

They now have five episodes with eight more to go to get the thirteen they want. It will be interesting to see what we get over the next eight episodes with Ep. 6 nearing release and Ep. 7 nearing completion to be released later this year.

We've already gotten two followup episodes among the first five. That's actually a significant percentage (40%) to continue a series that didn't really do such things. From here on I'm hoping they stick to standalones rather than followups.

Actually one could make a case for "The White Iris" being a followup given it dealt with repercussions of past events. In that case then STC has done 60% of its stories as followups. Thats far too high a percentage for my likings.

I'm crossing my fingers for "Come Not Between The Dragons." I like the title and I'm hoping it's a standalone done on the same level as "Lolani" which I think has been STC's best effort so far in terms of being consistent with TOS' better efforts. "Fairest Of Them All" was also quite enjoyable even considering it's not something TOS would have ever done.

Vic's performance is the lynchpin of the show for me. He captures Shatner's style, mannerisms, and gait without feeling like an impressionist.

I don't feel dogmatic about "follow ups." I'd be disappointed if they began post-TOS tie-ins, as that's NV's niche (which I'm cool with), but I don't have any problem with STC referencing other episodes of the original series.

Lest it be said that STC's ensemble cast is just window-dressing, Wyatt Lenhart and Kipleigh Brown appeared on the G&T podcast last week and revealed that their respective characters (Chekov and Lt. Barbara Smith) both play significant parts in Episode 6.
