*Spoilers* U.S.S. Franklin Design?

I wonder if the design of the Franklin will show some resemblance to one of the other designs on Marcus' powerwall from STiD.

It will look like this ship from Marcus' office:

I'm not so sure on that. I certainly wouldn't rule it out as being possible, but IMHO if they were going to have it be a TOS Connie than the bridge would look more like the one from TOS.

No, they're not going to recreate a cardboard 60s the way TNG and DS9 did, because "that's what it looked like" (and also because that would look terrible). Something similar to the Kelvin bridge is all that's needed to establish the ship as older. The exterior looking like a Connie is all that's required for the homage.

It just sounds like it'd clash terribly unless they Kelvinized the exterior, which again, isn't something I wouldn't rule out.

[A darkened room at Paramount HQ]

Voice 1: RIght guys, we almost crashed the Enterprise at the end of Into Darkness. How are we ever gonna top that?

Voice 2: We crash the ship. For reals.

Voice 1: Woah, okay. But, we already crashed the Vengeance. People have seen a giant ship crashing.

Voice 2: Then we'll crash two ships!

Voice 1: OMG here's $200 million do it do it do it!

Sounds just about right.

I just want a movie where the ship doesn't get trashed in any way.

Here's a guess - They crash the Enterprise on planet x, then use parts to repair the Franklin & escape to a starbase. Then they crash land at the starbase.

(Then a Klingon stabs a 2 1/2 year old David Marcus prompting Kirk to say "You Klingon bastard.", but that's an unrelated theory)

Here you go. I think you will find these two films to be universally and unquestionably regarded by fans as the finest Trek films ever made.

Granted, the Enterprise spends most of the fifth film either malfunctioning or breaking intragalactic speed records while hijacked by a bunch of alien hillbillies, but apart from a shuttlecraft suppository, it emerges mostly unscathed.

I guess you could also count STIV: The Voyage Home, but technically they're driving a stolen vehicle and it does get tagged with gang graffiti by some historically literate hoodlums while they were on Vulcan. Plus, someone used the aft cargo bay as an aquarium, and you can never quite wash that smell out.

As soon as I saw ST09 I suspected that the look-and-feel of the Kelvin is what TOS-era technology and ships "really" looked like. I'd love to see what the bridge of the TOS Enterprise would have looked like in that style...

TMP was actually one of my favourites for the visuals. Loved the big reveal of the refitted Enterprise, and it looked gorgeous. Like that gorgeous first date you go on...

The Final Frontier is a bit of a mixed bag. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. And the Enterprise has 78 decks. :D

Lower screen:
possible distorted front view where saucer is distorted but lower secondary hull / deflector dish is clear.

Upper screen:
looking between nacelles (faint upper part of screen show underside of starboard nacelle). Clearer port nacelle forward portion to left. Top of saucer to right (bridge prominent).

I was reading TrekCore's trailer breakdown and noticed in one of the screen craps on the other ship we see the crew on appears to be a ship schematic on one of the screens behind Scotty. I cropped it and reuploaded it so we could see it. Not the best quality but it kind of reminds me of the NX-01 design (of course it looks magnified so not seeing the whole thing I'm sure.)

It kinda does look like the NX a bit. Though I had to google the name as I'm not as familiar with ships as you all. I'll take a pic of it and upload it to my picturetrail when I get home. I got my concept art yesterday and it's a pic of the Franklin. It's pretty awesome looking.

Well, that's interesting, not at all what I had expected. It does match up to the side view in the bridge graphics in the trailer.

I'm assuming that's the bridge window in front, which would make the ship pretty small!

So * SPOILER ALERT* obviously though this is just concept art and it may look totally different later. Since you already have a Franklin thread here, and warned for spoilers, I'll just post below

Thanks for posting without attaching strings.

Interesting look.

Here are a few different angles. Sorry about the reflection, the plastic over it is super shiny and it was reflecting everything. I had to use google to figure out whose signatures was whose. The only two I guessed correctly was Chris Pine and Karl Urban
Uss Franklin on nacelle, one of the things I don't like about picture trail is they size down the image.

Ah! so it is! The pic must not have loaded last time.

I like the design. Original, yet familiar. Almost like a Gen II NX.
