I noted one know-it-all blogger said it would be impossible for us to find pro-bono representation. Well, as with just about everything else this newly minted IP expert posted on that blog, that is just wrong.
Dear Mr. Peters,
As a concerned
former fan of Axanar, I feel obligated to point out the areas where you are making yourself look
like an arrogant, egotistical shithead bad. It is my hope that this will help you when you step away from the keyboard and into the courtroom. Hopefully this will prevent you from
being laughed out of court losing your case before it begins.
I have, of course, thoroughly edited this missive to ensure that it meets with your personal standard of revision.
The first issue at hand is your reference to a certain blogger. If you wish to appear
less like a fucktard more professional, you could simply drop the term "know-it-all". Without that word, that sentence could appear to be completely professional. Instead, you come off
like you're still in second grade as unnecessarily antagonistic, and it only serves to weaken your position.
Second, the phrase "newly minted". In addition to the same point as regards the term "know-it-all", the following issues apply (presuming that we know to which blogger you are referring (because
duh!)):
- You fail to back up the assertion that this individual is not an expert. That you say it, does not make it true. This makes you look
like a complete asshole like a vindictive jerk like a child as though you are casting unwarranted and unsupported aspersions.
- Even if you had supported it, the individual in question has never professed to be a lawyer -- quite the opposite in fact -- and even posts a disclaimer to that effect in the footer of most posts. This results in the inescapable conclusion that you are
nothing more than the aforementioned vindictive asshole trying to start a fight by provoking the blogger in question.
- The individual in question is professing an opinion. This is allowed behavior on the Internet, and in all other facets of life. To
be such a condescending prick attempt to cast doubt on him in such a childish fashion only strengthens his credibility, while simultaneously diminishing your own. For you, even bothering to bring this up is a lose-lose scenario.
Finally, your assertion of "just about everything else ... is just wrong". I do hope, Mr. Peters, that you are prepared to bet the farm on it. You were
personally named in the lawsuit. Now, I am not even remotely qualified to be a lawyer, and you should certainly ask one about this, but that strikes me as a
very bad thing! As in, Paramount and CBS will own your actual ass if they win, not just some shell company! Unlike
PoopPropworx, which appears to be an incident of corporate bankruptcy, you could very well end up in
personal bankruptcy!
As this missive is being posted publicly, I'm sure someone with actual legal credentials will eventually correct me there if I'm mistaken.
To summarize, your statements give the immediate impression that your case cannot stand on its own, and thus requires a
completely inept vocal defense by yourself to give the illusion of merit. You do not address the actual concern -- on what grounds you expect to beat the IP owner -- so you give us nothing to judge your position by. Instead, you
shit on attack anyone else who holds an opinion and dares to speak it.
This makes you look like a disturbingly desperate man.
If I might suggest, again as a concerned
former fan, you might want to try simply ignoring your critics. Right or wrong, this will make you appear to be far more professional, and (for better or worse) far more likely to be in the right. It goes to the old adage: they're looking for a response, so you're only giving them what they–
No, you know what? To hell with it. Peters,
SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY! YOU'RE NOT HELPING ANYTHING!
Yours truly,
Ion.

PS: You have three business days remaining until your deadline for reply, and you've
not yet so much as selected a fuckin' lawyer?! Are you fuckin' mad?!
PPS: Gawd am I glad I never gave you any money. You're clearly not qualified to manage it.
