The Shannara Chronicles

They've compressed the timeline, Shea is now Wil's father not his grandfather and the events of the first book is a mere 30 years ago.

Yeah, I too noticed that off the bat, but did I miss it, or have they not actually mentioned Shea by name?

No, I don't think they have. And if I remember correctly Eventine was about 80 years old in the book, seveal hundreds of years younger than Allanon.

I'm currently reading Witch Wraith, the final installment in the Dark Legacy of Shannara trilogy, but I think once I'm done, I'm going to re-read Elfstones to see how it compares to the show. Ironically, several of the themes in Elfstones recur in this final trilogy.

They have. Pretty sure they did a few times, but I know for certain they did in the 4th episode. The druid told the king "He's Shea's son."

Thanks for that. Have only seen the first episode so far. Have they shown or revealed the Sword's location?

^I've only seen the episode(s) aired on TV so far (the first two, I think?), but I definitely heard Manu Bennett say "Shea Shannara" a couple of times. I was struck by the odd alliteration of it.

I don't know why they'd call him Shea Shannara since Shea, Flick and Wil were all Olhmsfords.

I know the discussion has been mostly about accents and language but can we pause for a moment and discuss how truly terrifying the Dagda Mor are. Seriously, I can barely stand to look at them! Good job on the prosthetics and make up!

I'm more wrapped up in thoughts about his minions.

Their wings look like skin tags.

Massive skin tags.

I wonder if they can sweat out of their skin tags?

They are Furies. Which look surprisingly less attractive than the Furies in Xena.

They are scaly, right? I don't think reptiles sweat.

Edit: Actually not reptilian. They are covered in sinuous hair, so I imagine a lot of sweating happens.

Sweating happens to cool down.

Were they breathing fire?

Point is that it might have to get hot as hell for them to think about loosening their tie.

The Dagda Mor is the name of the leader of the demons. Other than the furies the only ones that have been released so far is the Changeling and the Reaper.

^ I didn't even really remember that there was a Reaper and before watching the premiere episode, I thought Shannara was one of the main characters.

Tbh - I thought the Changeling WAS the Reaper!

It might've been the Changeling but given the amount of carnage I'd say it was the Reaper.

The more I see the premiere the more Poppy Drayton looks like Daisy Ridley.
