Star Trek: Renegades

She has always wanted to be involved, not going to get into details about what happened but glad she is back on board! The inclusion of Nichelle Nichols also helped in that regard.

Here is a glimples of the new admiral uniform (yes it needs to be tailored just a bit)

I know this is months old but I have to ask - are all the Starfleet characters getting new uniforms or is this just a variant?

It si similar to a design from before the pilot was made; shared on the donor forum.

Well its Walters and Nichelle's final live action episode as their characters. That's what she is referring to. As for future STR episodes, that is still being discussed. It really comes down to crowd funding in the wake of the new official series and if it practical and legally feasible to continue. We are just going to play it by ear. Right now we are concentrating preproduction of 'The Requiem'. As for the uniforms I believe the new ones are for all Starfleet personal, I will have to check with Scott on that to be sure though.

She is writing the final episode now. She 'technically' left the team after the new series was announced, but has now come back on board to write 'The Requiem'. She never really wanted to leave but was getting pressure from others, regarding other possible career opportunities. Not going to get into any details other than that.

If it's not certain it's the "final" episode why did you just refer to it as "the final episode"?

Color me confused.

To be honest I should have just said 'The Requiem' in that post. It is final for Chekov (and Uhura) so I have a tendency to refer to it in that way. This story could very well be the final one, but we will hold the door will be open for other adventures if the opportunity presents itself.

We are also still deciding whether this will be a one hour episode or to split it into two 30 minute episodes (2 and 3). There are pro and cons for both approaches. It would be one film shoot either way, but allow us to get episode 2 out quicker (less post on 30 minutes vs 1 hour) if split.

So on the whole The Requiem is a 1 hour story rather than a 2x60min one. Is this a change from when the Kickstarter began?

Originally we wanted to do episode 2 and 3 (a 2 part story), each episode would have been about 44 minutes (standard TV length). On the Kickstarter we needed 350k for Episode 2 and a stretch goal of 650k to do Episode 3. We ended up with 378k and realized we are not get up to amount needed to do 2 full 44 minute episodes. We did feel like we could add another 15 minutes to episode 2 and make it one hour. We will try to run a Indiegogo campaign next year to get funds to help with Post, VFX and any potential cost overruns. As mentioned in my previous post, we may still do 2 episodes, albeit 30 minutes each.

A one hour story will be a challenge to get right with the Chekov swan song plus the continuation of the Renegades' story, Tuvok, Chakotay, Uhura, Jadzia, the ds9 kids.

A lot to pack in to an hour! Plus due to the new series or potential blockages in production, especially with regards to crowdfunding, this may be it so I guess from a story PoV you might want overall closure to the Renegades saga?

Is this all part of discussion, and is Tim back in the directors chair?

I wonder what were all the sources used to promote and fundraise for this film. I used to be heavy on the Star Trek updates but life happens. If I had known I certainly would have contributed and helped spread the word.

I've been away from this board for a while but it all sounds very interesting. Best of luck and Tom, please post here when you go to crowdfunding.

Edit: I see now via Kickstarter that Episodes 2 & 3 raised quite a bit of cash. Spend it well!

Can you please have the music like DS9 and VOY?

And go back to the old phaser shooting, thanks.

Because CBS and Paramount do not own that music but must pay when ANYONE uses it, use of Pro Trek music is among the things most likely to get your account closed down.

Really? Continues and Phase II/New Voyages have both sampled liberally from the scores to the original series, and they haven't been shut down.

I'm not getting it either. Barb, perhaps you could explain?

I was very disappointed in Renegades. The script needed a good rewrite...it was far too convoluted. I most enjoyed the scenes with Chekov...although the actress playing his great granddaughter was awful. Same with the Renegade captain...she overacted every line and her performance was often laughable. Other issues with acting as well. I am hopeful that future episodes will learn the needed lessons from the first installment.
