Ash vs Evil Dead (new tv series)

That's a good thought. I do get the feeling that there was a cut scene there, though.

Woah. They really went there (Linda's bit of dialogue.) I was hoping Fisher would have caught on that that wasn't really Ash. Poor Fisher:( I was just starting to like her too. This episode kind of made me a little bit uncomfortable.

I hope Pablo and Kelly catch on quick!

Well, didn't see that coming but I should've because Ash is only ever allowed to get so close to happiness. Of course, this series has given us much more reason than the movies for Ash to deserve some so it comes off harsher than any I remember previously. That hand has consistently proven to be one cruel motherfucker! Though Ash has always been his own worse enemy so I guess there's some poetic justice in that.

Definitely feels that we have come to the end of the journey. Without going to hell itself it would seem the cabin is the end of the road.

^ Until season 2. Which at this point I'm not really sure where else they can go with the show. With two episodes left it kind of feels final.

Noooooo! :scream: :wah:

My favorite character. :(

I did not expect that at all. Now my enthusiasm for what comes next is greatly diminished. This is probably wishful thinking, but if Ruby was able to survive the fiery explosion in the funeral pyre, maybe she has some way of saving Fisher.

According to IMDB, she's in all ten episodes of season one, but I suppose that could just mean she returns as a Deadite.

Severing the carotid like that should have killed her a lot sooner than that but no dramatic drawn out death scene then. I was waiting for Ash to take her head off, but since we didn't, she'll be back as a Deadite next episode.

The stuff with Linda was perfectly in tone for the first two movies, great call back to those. Pity we didn't get the deer mouthing off again.

So I know they can't really get the rights to the first movie still, so they're being ambiguous about what other characters died, Cheryl and so on. But the eye on the arm, evil Ash, direct reference to Army of Darkness but Ash is acting like it never happened...hmm.

Nice tease with Knowby voice over, the knife is going to play a bigger part very soon.

"I hope they don't die." damnit Pablo, never say things like that.

-the 3 hikers = future deadites

-Bad Ash was surprisingly humorless when Fisher confronted him. You know shit's going down when the jokes stop. Though I have to admit, the way Bad Ash tried to woo Fisher was pretty smooth

-the bear trap yanking off Ash's metal hand must have been PAINFUL

-I'm so glad that the show didn't have Pablo and Kelly go, "Which one's the REAL Ash?" Not now, kids.

-"If you're like me, then I know you have a trick knee!" *whack* "OW MY TRICK KNEE!"

-This Bad Ash seems so much crueler and more evil than AoD's Bad Ash

This one is just going for the kill in a very personal way. These bastards got kicked out of Hell into their own dimension for being taking exceptional pleasure in torture and pain (according to Regeneration), when they don't even want to play anymore, that's bad.

Fisher's death was one of the most gruesome and horrible deaths I've seen in a long time.

Those poor hikers:( They have no idea... Actually, ignorance is bliss.

I read that it was the rights for "Army of Darkness" they couldn't get. Campbell also mentioned this in one of the various clips linked earlier in the thread. Technically, they could have pursued it, but the ownership of that film is tied to a larger studio (Universal, I think), and had Raimi and team wanted it, executives from that production company would have wanted their "say so" on various matters (read: studio meddling). Which is in part why "AoD" had even more slapstick and less gruesome violence compared to the two earlier films.

I kinda' got the impression the "Bad Ash" we saw in Saturday's episode is more in mind what Raimi wanted for "AoD", but the studio probably told him to "tone it down". So, instead of a sinister Heath Ledger Joker, we got a clownish Ceasar Romero for "Army of Darkness".

Back to the first film, obviously, Raimi and staff did get the right because we clearly see some shots from it when Ash delivered his backstory to Pablo. I mean, we see the first "white eyed" Deadite shot when Ash's sister Cheryl spins towards the camera. If they didn't have the rights to that film, I don't think they could have used those clips.

Sincerely,

Bill
