That thing [SPOILERS]

I realised not long before it happened that it was going to happen.

I don't mind the decision creatively, but I did find it really distracted me from the big fight scene that followed. I mean, it's a huge thing to do in a Star Wars movie, especially at this stage.

No one seemed to care he was dead either

Yeah - I mean it wasn't like,

Chewie went mental with grief and rage at losing his best friend

Rey (who just met him like a day before) was screaming and crying

Finn was yelling and showing obvious grief

Leia, light years away reacted to his death in the very realistic way that an estranged and battle-weary older woman who'd also essentially lost her son would quietly and mournfully visibly react

Shit, even Ben was upset at having (from his point of view) to kill his father.

Yeah, I guess you're right - nobody gave a fuck.

Holy shit, did comprehension levels and attention spans drop sharply while I was away???

So.. What do people here think about this?

http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/c...ast-will-return-for-eighth-film-a3139911.html
Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that the entire cast of The Force Awakens will return for the next film.

The president of Lucasfilm has said that iconic cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all appear in Episode VIII, as will newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.
Is he still alive? Force ghost? Vision? Flashbacks? What?

^Probably just saying that because it's only just been released, so don't want to give away what happens.

I dunno about Phasma or whatever, they just seemed to stick her in there to appease SJWs. She didn't do anything and was in it for maybe 3 minutes total. It was surprising considering the focus on her in articles.

This is how I felt. The only thing that distinguished her from any other stormtrooper was her uniform. Could have been replaced by any generic officer and wouldn't have made a difference to the plot.

As for Han dying, like many others I saw it coming.

My only complaint was that some asshole gave himself the username "Kilo Renn kills Han Solo" and posted in the comments section of a non-spoiler Youtube review on Monday night.

Talk about wanting to cockpunch somebody.

First of all, shame on you for reading Youtube comments. Second, it's Youtube comments....what else would you expect from them?

I managed to remain virtually spoiler free, I simply ignored/avoided reading just about anything to do with TFA including users comments. So whilst I didn't know Han was going to die it didn't come as much of a suprise when it happened.

But what is it with the SW universe and walkways of chasms without any safety rails.

Hey, I just wanted to find out if they liked it or not.

It seems to be mainly the bad guys who do that. I guess its a good way to keep their troops minds on what they're doing.

Sure I can understand that, but there is always the chance some inconsiderate person will let something slip. So I find it best to avoid anything which has the potential to spoil something me if I don't want to be spoiled.

I guess my curiosity and needing the reassurance that it didn't suck got the best of me. :)

I had an inkling what would happen, well, the fact it would, not how, given what happens in Hope and Menace, but I admit, I did cry a wee bit when it happened.

We may have know it was coming or that Harrison Ford even wished it. However the way it was done was perfect. Trying to connect to his son, trying to bring him back from the darkness. Kylo killing him trying to reinforce the darkness inside of himself, so as not to appear weak in front of Snoke.

Ford made it clear 'That Thing' had to happen.

It was still a mistake - it was too soon. We needed a Han, Luke and Leia together movie first.

An aging hero perishes and passes the torch in the first film of each trilogy now. I wonder what other parallels we'll see in 8 and 9?

PS- The list of those aging hero martyrs is pretty impressive with Neeson, Guiness and Ford.

Luke to check out in Ep.10 then ?

No one seemed to care he was dead either

Why would they? I mean, honestly, except for the people like Chewie, Leia, Finn and Rey, who had been close or semi-close to him, no in the Rebellion actually knew him. So, considering that Starkiller base was just destroyed, and everyone is extremely happy about that, why would they care about some guy they have heard stories about but never actually met?

The legendary smuggler or legendary General of the Rebellion. Take your pick. Han would probably not like being either unless they net him a good score from a cargo run.
