What TFA Merchandise Have You Gotten?

Does McDonalds still do toys for PG-13 movies? I thought they pretty much just stuck to G or PG stuff these days, after people got upset they were selling toys for movies that weren't appropriate for little kids.

I don't know what McDonald's would want to do for a PG-13 film but Burger King had two different toy promotions for Episode III, which was a PG-13 film that featured Anakin Skywalker turning to the Dark Side, murdering children, brutally cutting down enemy leaders and being burnt almost to death as he screamed in agony.

Burger King might have slightly different standards for which films they'll promote in their restaurants and with their food, but I could see at least one of these two chains having at least some The Force Awakens toys available for purchase.

I know some collectors have been complaining that recent Hasbro action figures from both the new film and the other parts of the franchise have the quality of Happy Meal toys.

^Going by the micro machines I took back, I'm not at all surprised.

I can't blame you. Those looked dreadfully inferior to ones released in the Nineties and it's clear that Quality Control has taken a backseat to the profit margin and the accountants at Hasbro. Their products are either outstanding or "what am I even looking at here?" It's disappointing but that's the current state of the company, and not just their Star Wars license.

The larger Black Series figures are pretty nice, but then again they better be for almost $US20.

The 6-inch Black Series figures are the best thing going right now, especially after super-articulated 3.75" was drastically cut back and has now been turned into a Walmart-exclusive line. I have few complaints about the 6" figures other than too few accessories being included with many of them and the occasionally sloppy paint apps.

I got the Force Awakens core set for the X-Wing miniatures game from Fantasy Flight. I find the quality of the miniatures to surpass the micro machines from the '90's. They have all the ships from the ot covered and have delved into the now defunct eu including ships like the Tie Defender, E-Wing, and Moldy Crow. I've also played the game and that's not bad either I recommend them to a collector of minis even if they aren't interested in the game.

Yesterday afternoon I found the new and Toys 'R' Us-exclusive 3.75" Poe Dameron from the Armor Up assortment of figures. He's a little pricier than he should be for a 5-POA figure with two pieces of torso armor for additional play and display value, but right now he's one of the best Poe Dameron toys on the market and the head sculpt is probably the best 3.75" likeness of Oscar Isaac that you can find at the moment.

I remember both the Star Wars and Star Trek Micro Machines in the '90s always had problems with being warped in weird ways... and there was no way to fix them.

When I saw the new ones at the store recently, it looked like they have that same problem!

So... what's with the relative scarcity of the action figures?

I can't find any on the shelves lately except for the 6-inch black series. It looks like I would have to drop at least $25 online for a 3.75" figure of Rey in her desert outfit. And the upcoming "Jedi mission" figure with the lightsaber has some pre-order listings for $60 on ebay. Ridiculous!

I remember it was the exact opposite with The Phantom Menace; the figures were absolutely everywhere (and affordable).

:wtf:

I did find the brand-new 6" Resistance Trooper and First Order TIE Fighter Pilot at a local Walgreens on Christmas Eve. Had those figures been stocked at one of the big box retailers they'd have disappeared by then, but since it was a Walgreens they managed to stay on the shelf long enough for me to find them.

Now I'm caught up on every 6" figure from the first three waves of The Force Awakens except for Rey and BB-8. I've seen them in person just once, and the local seller was asking a little too much for them. There've already been reports of Wave 4 of the 6-inch figures (General Hux, the regular First Order Snowtrooper and X-Wing Pilot Asty) being found, but so far I've seen nothing in my area.

I'd love to get those figures of Rey and BB-8, but they'll be a bit out of my price range, unfortunately. :scream:

Hot Toys stuff is amazing. I've followed their releases for a while, but there is no way I could afford to actually buy any of them.

Some is just Star Wars and not TFA.

Comics:
Star Wars Volume 1
Darth Vader Volume 1
Princess Leia
Shattered Empire
Several Kanan the Last Padawan issues; first issues of Lando and Chewbacca. I likely will pick up the Lando trade.

Books:
Lords of the Sith
Aftermath
Lost Stars
Before the Awakening
The Visual Dictionary
The Art of The Force Awakens

Toys:
Finn action figure
