‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

The rest doesn't engage me much either. The snarking between Clark and Bruce feels more petty and forced than clever or thoughtful. The Superman-Batman banter later on is rather dull as well. The first trailer, for all its grim solemnity, at least conveyed a sense of thoughtfulness and weight that was interesting, but this one makes the movie look as cheesy and clunky as the first couple of Fantastic Four movies or Green Lantern. Action-wise, it just seemed like another visually cluttered orgy of CGI mass destruction, and I'm totally uninterested in Doomsday as an adversary. The only moment that garnered a "whoa" from me rather than a "meh" was Wonder Woman's entrance.

I wouldn't go nearly that far, but I do agree it comes across a bit more "typical superhero movie" here than it did in the previous trailer, and doesn't feel quite as unique and special as it once did.

And I think it's still too early to tell about the writing, just from the few snippets of dialogue we've heard so far. Everyone was raving about the screenplay by the Argo writer, so I'm assuming there was an actual reason for that, and that the story will have some more interesting and complex stuff in it than we've seen so far.

Let's have some perspective guys. It can't possibly be worse than this:

I hope so. Trailers do have a way of skewing the emphasis, and I think it's a pretty standard formula for the first trailer or two to focus on the serious side and the later trailer to play up the fun and humor. But the humor on display was just so clunky. Lex telling Bruce it's a bad idea to pick a fight with Clark? That is just way too on the nose. I'm afraid we may get a serious and thoughtful movie that's marred by unfunny humor that the studio forced on the film in response to audience complaints about MoS's grimness. I have nothing against lightening things up a little, but I don't want to see it in a clumsy and overdone way. So far, this Luthor seems like he'd be more at home in Joel Schumacher's movies than Zack Snyder's.

^ I wouldn't go as far as Schumacher. I think he's got a cleverness about him but at the same time something is just slightly off, unless he's supposed to come off as inappropriate in the movie. Guess we'll see how it plays out.

I've enjoyed a variety of different versions of Lex Luthor, from Hackman's comic-relief version to Michael Bell's Hackman impression in the '88 animated series to Sherman Howard's menacing version from the syndicated Superboy to John Shea's romantic-lead version in Lois & Clark to Clancy Brown's note-perfect business-mogul mastermind in the DCAU to Michael Rosenbaum's nuanced young Lex in Smallville
Forgot about a certain Mr. Spacey, did we?

That's just

I'm usually really forgiving when it comes to fan films, but wow that was really bad. It takes a lot for me to know something is bad, so when it looks this bad to me it's gotta be really horrible.

I actually really like the trailer. After the somber Man of Steel, I don't mind a little more goofiness! I think Eisenberg's spin on Lex is pretty interesting (apparently based on Max Landis) and that final scene with Wonder Woman looks very cool!
The one thing I really didn't like is the über-generic Doomsday design.

That said, I've been burned by cool-looking Zack Snyder trailers before. I've loved pretty much all of his trailers, but often ended up not liking his movies. So I'm cautiously optimistic about this one at best.

IGN has posted their analysis of the trailer. There's a video version at the top of the page and a written version under that. I didn't feel like watching that long of a video so I went with the written version.
I didn't mention it in my other post, but I absolutely love the shot of The Trinity together. It's kind of sad that it has taken us so long to get a shot like that in a live action movie.

Loved the trailer, looking forward to the movie.

I know, how dare I actually enjoy without hating atleas SOME part of it..... ;) ;)

Well to be fair, Doomsday was always a pretty generic looking villain and monster to begin with. So I'm not really bothered by the redesign at all.

The bigger issue for me is just the fact that it's yet another generic looking CG monster in a scifi/superhero movie.

At least it's not another same looking, cannon fodder, cgi army. We've had enough of those.
Avengers 1 and 2
Star Wars Prequels
The Hobbits trilogy

The more I rewatch the trailer, the more I like what I see & hear.
Definitely the comic book movie I'm most looking forward to for next year.

A shame we didn't get a glimpse of Aquaman though.

Here's a thought - What if that nightmare we've all assumed was Bruce Wayne's was actually a vision shown to Diana of a possible future where Superman and Batman don't team up to form the Justice League, leading to Earth being taken over and Superman getting corrupted by Darkseid? Is it possible this would be more towards the beginning of the movie and Wonder Woman is sent out from Paradise Island to unite Superman and Batman which would explain her presence at the party?

I like it.

I like this theory & it sounds very plausible.

I've got to say, I thought the trailer sucked to the point of pissing me off. Not because I particularly disliked what I was seeing (though I have some issues), but I think it gave away waaaaaaay too much of the plot. The first trailer had just enough "epicness" to keep me intrigued, but now I don't feel like I need to pay to see the movie. If they just cut out the Doomsday reveal I think the trailer would've been much better. I mean, the movie is called Batman v. Superman, and the trailer seems to already show how that will be resolved.

I'm sure there are some things to be revealed in the movie that may surprise and it still may have a hell of a script, but I'm going to need some serious convincing.

Was that really so hard to predict without the trailer? I mean, obviously neither one would "win" and they'd end up working together by the end of the movie. That's how these "superhero fight" stories always play out. Not to mention the fact that there are Justice League movies in development, meaning they'll inevitably end up as partners.

I agree with you. It was a forgone conclusion that they were going to end up working together by the end of the movie. But the how and the why of the partnership was up in the air. There were all sorts of theories and guesses, but the reveal of Doomsday seems like it answered the question. It could be a mislead or there could a lot more to it. I just think the trailer could've had more restraint while still being exciting.
