STC Episode 6 (news and speculation)....

I don't know where that model pic came from (Exeter, or one of the models made by another builder but not used by Exeter?), but it has nothing to do with STC. (And yeah, those look like blast marks to me, not spiders.)

STC just posted this image on their FB page along with a reference to an announcement to be made tomorrow (Sunday, Nov. 22) at 6pm.

This could be a staged pic, but there are some curious things about it. Firstly why are the spheres in the pic red instead of silver as they are in the previously posted image? Secondly why is there an apparently dead or injured redshirt up in the Emergency Manual Monitor? And thirdly why are there big honkin' spiders all over the engine room?

Is this a hint about the next forthcoming episode? And could the red spheres indicate we're looking at the engine room of another Constitution-class ship other than the Enterprise?

Hmm...

The first photo (post #171) that Drexler originally posted is the STC engine room. The second photo is a model that has nothing to do with STC and has been on the web for many years.

^^ Odd that it got pasted on their FB page and then soon taken down.

That said there is still their announcement scheduled for 6pm. today.

I've been following the "Geekvolution: Ask the Treksperts" reviews on STC and found that they make some pretty good points. They've recently released their reviews on Episodes 4 and 5 (combined) on their Youtube channel.

The only thing that bothers me about those treksperts videos is that there is no reason for them to be videos. Two people sitting next to each other talking mostly to camera. Just do a podcast already!

IIRC, that miniature pic was posted as a reply to the actual set photo by a toy/model photographer. Not exactly sure why.

Yeah, I tried watching some of that and it put me to sleep. They did raise some interesting points regarding the subject matter, but I didn't hear anything I hadn't already seen here when we discussed the STC episodes. As video there is nothing to engage you.

One guy does most of the talking over the others and the other guy is practically nonexistent. The girl is somewhat in the middle.

An update from STC. They have completed principle photography for Ep. 6 and part of Ep. 7. They have also completed their Main Engineering set. Apparently Ep. 7 is being paid for out of their own pocket. To that end I think we can expect a new Kickstarter drive not far into the new year to fund more episodes as well as additional sets including the previously mentioned planet set.

Additionally they have added to an existing set, but the details remain unknown until they make a later announcement.

^They've added the console lights, sliders and console views screens, very nice. The Planet Set has already been funded by the last kickstarter, it was included in the stretch level that was reached along with the engineering set.

If you've got a TNG captain's tunic, why not flaunt it? :)

The Trek Geeks visited STC's Stage 9 recently during the Ep 6 shoot and they've posted some select pics up on their FB page. Their most recent podcast gives their general impressions of their tour of the sets. They mentioned that they'll include some more in- depth material such as cast interviews and post more BTS pics after the episode is released.

One thing about these guys.. they are biased. A personal tour of the set and an invitation to sit in on the production for a couple of days is the perfect bribe. :)
