STC Episode 6 (news and speculation)....

Episode 6 title announced: "Come Not Between the Dragons"

Similar to a line from King Lear: "Come not between the dragon and his wrath."

Sounds to me like maybe a return visit from this guy:

I'd be quite disappointed if they used that design. TOS could never have done anything like that.

In the least a title like "Come Not Between The Dragons" suggests the Enterprise crew being caught in the midst of a conflict between two factions. A Klingon/Romulan rift could be possible, but that might involve extensive make-up. Same if they went with the Gorn. But if Starship Exeter could pull off something like "The Tressaurian Intersection" then I'm sure STC could pull off something at least as creative.

:) Rubber monsters are fine.

I wonder if this will be STC meets Game of Thrones? The Targaryens are always unleashing their dragons.

Now that STC has completed their main Engineering set what other sets might need to be built in the future?

I know NV/P2 are working on a science lab set. That's something STC doesn't yet have (I believe). So perhaps STC could build their own science lab for some future episode.

Might they ever again have use for the arboretum as seen in "Is There No Truth No Beauty" and "And The Children Shall Lead"? I suppose the Briefing Room could be redressed to serve as a crew lounge/rec room (I think they did that in "Fairest Of Them All").

What about sets of locations aboard ship we never got to see during TOS? Certainly it would only make sense to build such sets only if they were really needed for a particular story. During TOS specific sets seen were actually redresses of existing sets whenever possible.

Understand that as it was part of the last Kirkstarter as was the Engineering set. STC has proven itself an outstanding steward of the funding it has received. Speaking for myself only as a contributor, I would not mind if they pivoted and spent the funds on something else like a green screen setup. It seems like with a Planet set you could move the rocks around and light it differently to make it look unique to each episode but with a green screen setup you would only be limited by your imagination. I would like to see parts of the ship that have never been seen before or sets that could not be built for lack of time or funding.

I thought about this and it comes back to how faithful they want to be to how things were done during TOS' production. In "Lolani" and "Fairest Of Them All" we saw people right on the hangar deck. Now TOS could never have managed to have built a fullsize hangar set given the limited time, money and resources. But given sufficient time and money they could have used a partial set in tandem with a matte painting to create the same scenes we've seen in STC's episodes.

There's a lot TOS could have done if they had had a bit more time and money. STC can do such things simply because they have the extra time and the aid of cgi to replicate what could have been done physically in the '60s.
