I noticed the (possible) reuse too, but I think it's a great shot.Loved hearing "Girls Just Want To have Fun" and I hope to see more of Kara's personal life explored.
Oh yeah and they used stock footage for Supergirl flying. ...I think.
May as well reuse that stuff I suppose. It's just that I don't think I've seen a show do that in a while. Does The Flash do it with the running shots?

Did anybody else find themselves agreeing with Cat's article? As for Cat, I see she is about to dive into J Jonah Grant territory after all. How long before she needs to be saved by Supergirl, I wonder.
Supergirl is dumb.

Perhaps because I didn't do a side-by-side frame-by-frame comparison?
I don't mind the romcom bits some mention as I don't watch many such shows so it's kind of refreshing for me to see a show where everyone is so pretty with fabulous apartments and flashy trendy workplaces. The show looks like a glossy magazine come to life. 
Thought that was a bit odd myself. Especially when the scenario made it so easy to show some distractions.
Of course, sometimes it's hard trying to deal with such superpowered types. Like they can dodge speeding bullets but will still get smacked with a haymaker. Or they'll deal with a hostage situation where they could grab the guy's gun before he could ever pull the trigger.
However, wounded guy slowly fluttering away was hard to ignore.

Well the various comic book shows certainly aren't drawing Big Bang Theory or NCIS-level ratings last I checked.
And this was my problem - some of you are too busy defending Girl Power or whatever (unnecessarily and ridiculously, when it's to me) to notice that the other stuff I was complaining about earlier was just as badly written as that.
I have no problem at all with well-written romantic plots or coming of age stories, but soooo much of what we saw last night was forced, shoe-horned, and just otherwise horribly handled. The first two episodes set up these two guys (James and Winn) as Kara's buds - and now all of a sudden there's not just one of them interested in her but boom - instant love triangle. Feh.

Yes, she fights a goofy villain but then again it's a superhero show but the core of the episode was about her, why she needs to do it and how she does it.
I guess she really earned the respect of everybody and it was very nice to see her being both the dork and the superhero and this is an aspect of the show i like the most.
Best scene though was her instant messaging with Superman.. that just put a wide smile on my face because it was just plain cool. I don't know if we'll ever see Superman full frontal played by an actor (would be so kickass awesome if Henry Cavill would play that role on TV too) but here he was just human chatting with his family.
3 episodes in and from the soso pilot they manage to deliver a rocksolid episode that i may rewatch from time to time (which i do not do often).

Actually I think it's been hinted pretty strongly since the beginning that they both had an interest in Kara.
And like others were saying earlier, the romantic storylines on this show aren't really any more contrived or soapy than those on Flash and Arrow. And at least here it fits the tone and style of the show a lot more naturally, unlike on Arrow where it's always felt a bit forced to me (as if the writers feel obligated to squeeze in some kind of relationship drama every episode to balance out the darker action stuff, whether it's really necessary or not).
I certainly don't want non-stop action. I want to see their personal lives.
Neither did I. I just have good eyesight and a decent memory, which both screamed "stock footage" when they saw it.
And there's the question of how much she can really control it. I mean, TV and film adaptations tend to assume that Clark or Kara has normal senses until they choose to turn on their super-senses, but is that realistic? I mean, they're senses. Do you have a gain knob on your own hearing (assuming you don't use a hearing aid)? I think Smallville explained once that Clark's super-hearing is on all the time, but he's trained himself to ignore most of it.
So Kara probably can't help hearing all sorts of conversations around the office; she just generally tries not to pay conscious attention to them. But in some cases, that's easier said than done.

You could probably generate a random number, go to that channel, and find a show that writes women (or anything else) better than Gotham.

They've never met my mom, either, apparently - which is good for them. Seriously, I understand why anyone who hasn't been exposed to someone like that might think the writing is bad or unrealistic, but in last night's episode they were freakin' *channeling* my mom.
I think maybe people who don't actually *have* crazy-ass borderline-supervillain people in their life might want to chill out a little on trying to judge whether or not the characterization is right.
People usually filter things out if they're not paying attention. So maybe Clark and Kara do have normal senses (which they probably trained themselves to have) until they use their highly focused attention to tune in.
