Can we get some writers from Gotham up in here, please?
I was thinking the first 20 seconds of this one:

I noticed the (possible) reuse too, but I think it's a great shot.Loved hearing "Girls Just Want To have Fun" and I hope to see more of Kara's personal life explored.
Oh yeah and they used stock footage for Supergirl flying. ...I think.

May as well reuse that stuff I suppose. It's just that I don't think I've seen a show do that in a while. Does The Flash do it with the running shots?

Why are people unsure about this? Of course it's reused footage.
Speaking of flying, I wish they'd explained why she didn't just fly after Reactron at the end of their first fight. They should've established that there was another motorist in need of rescue or something.
Anyone else getting a Tom Cruise vibe from the way the actor is portraying Maxwell Lord?
Because comic books are so niche these days...
And this was my problem - some of you are too busy defending Girl Power or whatever (unnecessarily and ridiculously, when it's to me) to notice that the other stuff I was complaining about earlier was just as badly written as that.yeah, annoying plot contrivance. After the fight, his weapon isn't working, and he slowly flies away. if only Supergirl could fly! His weapon is broken, just follow him and end it? Nope, let him get away, recharge, and fight again later. Yeah...
This, I agree with.Best scene though was her instant messaging with Superman.. that just put a wide smile on my face because it was just plain cool.
I have no problem at all with well-written romantic plots or coming of age stories, but soooo much of what we saw last night was forced, shoe-horned, and just otherwise horribly handled. The first two episodes set up these two guys (James and Winn) as Kara's buds - and now all of a sudden there's not just one of them interested in her but boom - instant love triangle. Feh.
I noticed the (possible) reuse too, but I think it's a great shot.

Perhaps because I didn't do a side-by-side frame-by-frame comparison?![]()
I thought it was stalker-ish to see Kara eavesdropping on the conversation between James and Lucy. That's personal stuff!
Yeah the eavesdropping might have crossed the line a bit, but I wouldn't really call it stalking.
I'm wondering if they're going to be using Lord basically as their version of Lex Luthor. I was already kind of starting to get that impression a bit here.
I don't know if I'd say they write female characters particularly well. Most of the women on the show have been totally nuts, and the couple we have gotten aren't really aren't much more than just a love interest for the men.USS Triumphant said:Well, okay, not necessarily them... but *someone* who knows how to write female characters. Which the Gotham writers seem to do well.
Well I'm officially worried now after the ratings declined again. It's still holding steady in viewers but it's obviously the demo that matters most, and that doesn't seem like it's nearly as high as it should be for a show this expensive. And I suspect it still hasn't even fully settled yet.

With the ratings drop, do you think Supergirl will be a one season wonder at best?
They've never met my mom, either, apparently - which is good for them. Seriously, I understand why anyone who hasn't been exposed to someone like that might think the writing is bad or unrealistic, but in last night's episode they were freakin' *channeling* my mom.Comic Book Resources certainly doesn't think Gotham handles women well:

People usually filter things out if they're not paying attention. So maybe Clark and Kara do have normal senses (which they probably trained themselves to have) until they use their highly focused attention to tune in.And there's the question of how much she can really control it. I mean, TV and film adaptations tend to assume that Clark or Kara has normal senses until they choose to turn on their super-senses, but is that realistic?
